Well if you aren't playing to a crowd full of elitist dj's that believe mixing is an art form that should never die out, who's going to care? As long as you are playing good tunes...

it's not even about the crowd, but about myself. to me using software is pretty boring as it doesn't challenge me. it's not even half as fun to mix with a controller as using records. pressing a sync button in your software is like riding your bike with stabilisers. if it works for you, fine. but there will always be people who want to ride their bike without stabilisers, because it looks stupid and it's not that much fun.

Extremely danceable as he's been on that techno kick for a bit now. As I said, was shocked at the amount of movement on the floor. He was beaming too, feeling the energy...

Don't get me wrong, I love the tune, and I could see how one might want to end the night with it or something, but it definitely seems like a head-nodder not a dancefloor tune, especially compared with tracks like Naked or Massacre or Hypno Angel, etc

blood on my hands is very danceable, not everything "danceable" has to be a tune everyone goes absolutely mad to you get me. some tunes draw people in slowly. definitely think it is preferable to hypno angel in that sense anyway, which has a bit of an awkward rhythm. don't think i would dance to that. actually think naked is a bit awkward too in comparison...

but the awkward rhythm on hypno angel makes it more interesting, you can still feel the rhythm, it's just inferred


anyways, I guess what I mean is it's not a tune that you would all out skank to, like, say, level nine by mala. it's more of a swaying, upper body movement tune if you get me

dancing means moving with the music

not swinging your body around as erraticly as possible

alot of dubstep fans tend to get these two mixed up, which is a shame

also what with analysing how you dance to certain tunes, it shouldn't be forced ro pre-meditated, just your natural movment/reaction to the tune

that's kind of what i wanted to say with my question. and i think it's more about if you feel a tune and not about rhythmic structure etc. most of the stuff some of my friends consider as extremely danceable make me end up at the bar right away.

i don't think it is. there's a shit ton of music out there that i love to death but is impossible to dance to and isn't designed to be danced to.

granted, i don't really like hypno angel, and one reason for that is its awkwardness, i LOVE naked but think blood on my hands has a more natural flow... basically all i'm saying is that the hypnotic element of tracks like that is a great thing to have in the dance and it's not all about head bangers and mental drops or whatever. obviously personal preference is a big factor though...

I think we're overanalyzing here, but I was simply saying that hypno angel is very danceable because within the "awkward rhythm" there is still a suggested driving rhythm that makes it easy to follow on the dancefloor
