lol but 80's synth pop is far from acid. it means exactly that: 80's synth pop. and i can definitely hear that in let's say joker tunes for example. whereas acid influence not that much... act like you kno man!

and i beg to differ i think purple is a brilliant name, the sound really has a purple feel to it! i heard it came from pitchfork style "press" trying to describe the funky bristol sound somehow and came up with purple because joker had a lot of purple clothes in the photos

hahah i can definitely imagine pitchfork using colour to define a sound, a long with a dozen other adjectives.

I know Joker is a big fan of the Neptunes, so its predominantly from that liquid smooth RNB sort of vibe. Then obviously Synth Pop cause of the raw analogish waveforms. The guys just a really good composer though, him and Silky produce the most sensual melodies.
