K so you helped jags but I really want to know how to layer 909s and get that sound from the snare I showed you by using 909s. I'm not a big fan of creating snares with synthesizing. So can you tell me a process of creating it from 909s? Please?

I wouldn't get so preoccupied with making your sounds from a particular source. I don't know how to or if you even can make that exact sound from a 909 snare. You'll have to figure that one out by experimenting.
Why are you so preoccupied with using a 909 to begin with?

Because I find that using a 909 is great for making different types of snares. But are you saying there are other ways to make it from a different type of snare? Or do you really think it was synthesized?

You are beyond overcomplicating music production for yourself. If a 909 snare is 'great for making snares' but then you don't know how to get the sound you're after from a 909... then the 909 should not be an appopriate sample source for you for this particular snare. You are needlessly limiting yourself for no real reason other than you once decided that 909s are good for snares.
Let go of these rules you're coming up with for yourself since they're very clearly restricting your ability to be creative.
Btw; a 909 snare is just white noise and sinewaves. Yes, it does work lovely as a layer, but usually in a very fundamental and basic way; the high-end to give it some 'hiss', the fundamental to give a snare some "oompf" or both. It's pretty empty in the tonal "body" of the snare. And furthermore, both aspects of snare layers I described can easily be replaced by white noise or sinewaves respectively.

i don't think it was synthed, i think it was snatched right out of a vengeance pack. theoretically there are any number of ways you could get to any particular sound, but i find that trying to recreate a
particular percussion sound is nearly impossible. you might get close but you're not gonna get
that exact sound unless you get the sample. so if you really need that exact sound then just download a vengeance pack, but it's much more productive to try to make your own snare. you might get close but i highly doubt you'll reach that exact sound, but who cares? a snare is a snare and you may come up with something better than a vengeance deadmau5 snare.

Thank you very much

I'll do some experimenting and see what I get. But would you mind if asked you something about skrillex?

But do you have an idea of how to make the snare I'm talking about? If you've heard the snare then could you give me a tip on how to create it from scratch without 909s?
Soundcloud
(That's the snare that I would love to build myself. Idk why I am so obsessed with it though.)

That is literally a drum machine snare with a very short/gated burst of white noise on top, possibly even just an extremely distorted closed hat sound layered on top of the snare. Hence that little 'shhst' sound, with the 200hz-ish body of the snare.
Check out Goldbaby sample packs, really great drum machine samples. My favorite are the two sample packages that have been run through a tape machine for some distortion.

That's a pitch modulated sine wave at 200 hz, with white noise on top and what sounds like a high-passed sample of a 'whip like' snare, think the snare of an action break or something like that, added to it. This is fed into a distortion unit and/or limiter (which I think is what mainly gives it gatey effect) and squashed/distorted to shit. The prominent 200 hz is what mainly overdrives the snare to give it its character

Honestly once you take the preamps out of the question, Focusrite are pretty fucking shit, even their higher end stuff isn't that 'great' outside of pre amps.
I had my eye on this :
http://www.dv247.com/computer-hardware/ ... 600--88892 before I settled for the Zoom R24 - M-Audio stuff is great just a bit fragile from my experience.
You could just skip an interface and get a signal splitter from your speakers?
Something like this would do the trick :

So If I create this in massive, how do I get it to hit hard? Like how to I create the snare with that transient at the beginning?
Compress? Distort with saturator or camelcrusher?

I think that that is taken from the Goldbaby Tape 909 pack.
I've heard it a thousand times going through the pack.

Can you tell me some eq and distortion settings to help me build it? Like with Ableton's saturator? (For distortion) and like the eq settings (eq eight of course) and just tell where to boost and cut off and also if I should layer?

Good samples don't need EQing. You shouldn't really be boosting, its better to have the source sample with the frequency spectrum what you need.
In terms of cutting - you should be cutting to make room for the sound within the mix.
Again, if you have to cut bad frequency spikes, it'll be better to find a cleaner sample to begin with.
