Good one yeah. Saw the film in a small theater and afterwards, an ex Stasi guy told about
his experience listening in on people's conversations and shit. Not sure if he was involved
in the production of the film, but it was a great addition anyway.

I don't understand watching movies. What are you getting out of the experience? What makes you say a movie is the best in the last decade?

Some films make you think. Some elicit emotions.
Both of these are enjoyable for some people.
Some movies do these two things better than others.

Think? Think about what, the movie itself, or ideas it suggests?
Elicits emotions? So you're like, I want to feel happy, I'll watch X, or I want to feel sad, I'll watch Y? You're choosing a vehicle for having an emotional experience?

Sure. Or if you like surprises just watch anything and see where it takes you.

i dont get most films lol im with nwj
deffo not a film head
the older ones especially that everyone raves about are so bad. like the old black and white ones where they hadnt really worked out how to make stuff seem 'real'... like the actings so theatrical and mono, and it just flows well weird unlike real life
according to some of my mates tho they're the best ones :/

Perhaps movies could have nutritional facts - like this move is 24% brooding dread, 26% joyful release...
Or like filmed entertainment could be prescribed. "I want you to take 4 half hour episodes a day, 3 with happy endings, and 1 with a cliffhanger. If you begin to appreciate the emptiness of your life, take a two hour film with sweeping beauty and a stirring score, climaxing in life affirming ideas."

You can draw an analogy to music. If you introduce someone that listens to chart music to some of the more creative/unique pieces out there, they just won't get it.
You have to work your way back to the old black and white movies with the theatrical, mono acting.

They do have "nutritional facts", they're called reviews.
