drugs = bad
not going to make a lot of friends within the dubstep scene with that attitude :)

I don't always like to smoke while I'm writing (sometimes it helps) but getting high after you finished a track is a really good way of listening to it again with fresh ears, I find. When I'm sober, I'm thinking about it way too much, analyzing everything- being high almost lets me hear it as if somebody else wrote it.
If you think drugs are bad try having an operation without a sedative.

Drugs are amoral and have no agenda - the user supplies all that stuff
I meant while producing, what this threads about...How can you create when your minds not at its finest state, you'll end up doing something half-arsed. Personally I don't touch many drugs apart from the odd aspirin but I don't have a problem with people doing what makes them happy.

to be fair

ive heard shit out of people on some crazy drugs that you would never hear out of sober people

ive hear shit out of sober people that you could never hear out of people on drugs.

id say that drugs is a bigger problem with live music, because you are going to fuck up (see: mars volta, jimmy hendrix, santana). but the advent of electronic music has opened up a whole new world of crazy disturbing trippy shit, because you can keep working on the track without getting booed off the stage

generally have a few blunts whilst, but not necessarily. sometimes your too lean and just want to listen to something else ha. if your going to get stoned whilst making tunes make sure you have bare skittles, so much energy in them

what'dya mean by that exactly?
I think he means the head state when you do too much acid, dmt, 2cb etc And think that you are the smartest and most amazing human being to walk this planet. A god amongst men.

I personally love to judge everyone when coming down.

Whilst I appreciate your purity I have to question your thinking

There is of course a concentration element but thats just technicle prowess not invention!

Some of the greatest artistic achievements of the music world (and indeed the literary world) have been associated with psycho-active drugs - to deny that is just naive (or puritan?)
for example ...
Alice in wonderland - Lewis Carrol
Bitches Brew/In a silent way - Miles Davis
The paintings of Salvador Dali
The Velvet Underground
Rave culture in general
Jack Karowac (sp?)
Aldous Huxley
John Lennon and the Beatles
... need I go on?

Sure dont do them

sure disapprove ... but remember its not your life

but be aware you cheapen the whole argument by lessoning the positives of psycho active thinking

Admitting this aspect exists is not approving of drug use its just the recognition of fact eh?

/not having a go really just a bit fucked on a friday night lol
so please dont take offence
Narh I agree with you but those people listed above were exceptional people and probably still would of been without the recreational (right spelling?) activities but my argument is just because they did what they did and are famous drug users - doesn't mean its going to make everyone amazing, ya know? I think it just depends on 2 things..

1) if you depend on it to make music.
2) if you can't appreciate your own work (an other peoples) sober and not..

The very few times I have had a blaze and got home and decided to write were very fun - granted the ideas were good but the delivery was poor so I guess its like anything, production and drugs? - good in moderation

i like to be a bit stoned or i get really restless.

i'd love to make tunes tripping, tried before and not got too far tbh. tend to use tripping as inspiration, rather than whilst making tracks.

beer....cigarettes / roll-ups......haribo's / maoam's

thats usually what I do these days whilst making tunes.....

In the past I have made tunes under the influence of all sorts .....and I find that , you either can't be fucked and you just wanna listen to tunes or your mind is completely somewhere else and you can't focus properly......

Nothing like smoking a j and vibing a tune so much that you keep it unlit in you gob for 30 mins then realise and spark it, take a puff and let it go out again.

Shit went off on one there a bit.....

I've been stoned on all of my tracks. I have never made a song sober. I have been stoned every day for almost 8 months, a lil longer than I've been producing.

i come out with the goods on comedowns the days after big nights, or when ive been having a ketty night in and cant sleep, but am pretty much sober.
i get good ideas while on ket, though needless to say they need a lot of tweaking to get them sounding good to sober ears.
stoned i rarely get anything done, just sit there tweaking stuff for hours as most people seem to do!
anything else, allow producing i wanna listen to someone else!

I love making tunes under the influence of just about anything (within reason!!).

Acid has always been my favorite for producing under, can generally keep the ADD in check on it, shrooms not so much.

And I might as well have a bong installed into my studio desk. :3

never done any drugs/drank while producing dubstep , though i know it's really great to write guitar songs and riffs when you're drunk, I wonder if that goes for producing with a PC aswell ^^
