I wish I could do a myspace blog like that and confuse as many people as he has. I'm not too bothered about seeing a tracklist but some acknowledgment of the level of respect he has gained would be nice. Like saying thanks to the fans patiently waiting, the mix cd wil be out soon, it won't be a jungle throwback, plenty of people could do that mix cd.
well said.

so is the basic consensus that burial is a dick now?

we are creating the hype right now by talking about this. just wait til it comes out and see. probably will be ok. it's just a compilation with a few extra tunes, it's not the 2nd coming of christ.

not at all. the basic concensus is that you shouldn't trust what you read on the net.

The blog pretty much stated that he's yet to even confirmed it with K7.

This has been done before as for other Burial's releases in the past so its all a matter of time, so all we have to do is wait patiently, it will hit the shelves soon i do suppose but as we know everytime Burial has something in the pipeline it creates a hype and makes people discuss, urban tactics.

Hold tight everyone getting worked up because they don't know the exact date of release, time of pressing, Burials shoe size, brand of toilet paper he uses to wipe shit off his anus.

I got an email from the PR people yesterday saying that it's happening, they just don't have a concrete release date, and that there is no tracklisting as yet.

Sure - it may come out then. July 8th was quoted as the official international release date, maybe the PR company are just being cagey.
They said (paraphrased here, sorry for confusion) The release is coming... the tracklisting that has been leaked is not correct... don't have anymore details than that on actual release date...

It's not a direct quote - it's paraphrased from what the PR person told me. I'm a journalist and we get regular updates from all the PR people who rep artists we write about - I'd pitched a feature on this and just wanted to know what was happening

Ah ok,
Ive never actually listened to a DJ Kicks album before, is it a compilation style or a mix cd with a fancy cover - a bit like watch the ride?

Depends mate. Some of them are pretty straightforward DJ mixes, some of them are a bit more off the wall. The Nicolette one had her reversioning a lot of tracks by people (Plaid did the legwork).
The Smith & Mighty one is heavy, the Andrea Parker one is good if you're into your electro. !K7 also did a short series of albums called Electro Boogie - the Depth Charge one is really great

Andrea Parker, Smith & Mighty and Depth Charge are definitely live. They were made in the late 90s, you can hear the cock-ups in mixing (particularly on the Depth Charge one, he just drowns it in delay). Nicolette sounds like it was done on a program.
Dunno about any of the later ones. I know that Fabric Live mixes have a policy where they let the DJs do what they want, either turntables, CDJs etc. or computers. Maybe it's the same with DJ Kicks.
