^^out to jungle music, my old friend, when it was still fucking thunderous, unpredictable and groundbreaking.
first piece of music i listened to today, the Peshay link there, thanx. YEAH. So much to say with music like that. The more
groundbreaking Dnb was all about statements. It really was about presenting sounds/ideas never heard before. Both those tunes are brilliant, always have been.

As Blumarten said man check out Martsman, that guy really really does sound like no one else at the min. Everything Ive heard by him is absolutely petrifying!
A few of his tunes appear on MedSchool (Hospital Records sister label) which is definitely a good record label to check at the min!
As much as I love Dubstep the sound of a break being twisted within an inch of its life beats it hands down every single time! Dubsteps definitely got the variety for sure but DnB/Jungle for me is still the best form of dance music to come out of the UK!

Don't know how many threads i seen on dogs on acid, saying dnb are dead.
And i never seem to understand why. If you don't agree with the music then maybe it's not for you. There are so many different types of dnb out there that i don't even know them all. Personally i never get tired of a 175 bpm break with a heavy as fuck bassline. Check out Data if you havn't already, signed to metalheadz.
Loxy & Resound is coming with an album called "Burning shadows" and that one is full with breaks and dark atmospheres. One to look out for!

i've been raving about and posting this CADENCE RECORDINGS radio mix lately, cuz its pretty much the best dnb i've heard this year. If you haven't heard, or if anyone was a fan, Cadence Recordings has relaunched this year, and gave a sneak preview of what's to come in this broadcast from this past summer.
Soooo good.
Makes you wonder what all the dubstep hype is all about when you have even deeper, moving, abstract electronic music kicking around like in the mix here, heh.
Seriously, this is dope, and very very WELCOME for the '08. If you haven't checked it out, go to it. Atmos dnb at its finest:

i don't get what everyone means by death of dnb?
sure some artists are going mainstream and are becoming shit but how can you say a whole genre is dying?
Dnb is great.

BEN? wrote:how can you say a whole genre is dying?
because the person who started this bullshit thread simply fell out of love with dnb, without even exploring what the whole scene has to offer

Going down to Rupture the other week, I think I can conclude that d&b is most certainly alive and kicking.
Fast drum breaks + subbass is something you can never kill.

cheers
for me dnb is mostly monotonous dancefloor banging — fine if you like that sort of thing — but there's always a bit of stuff around in the leftfield to keep me interested

I DON'T THINK SO, IN MY OPINION THE DRUM AND BASS ESSENCE IS UNDERGROUND LIKE THE BASS AND CAN'T NEVER DIE.
