I think with all the creative and intelligent minds in here, we could talk about the synthesis of totally new sounds. I know this is the "bass growl" thread, but it just seems done at this point. Lets look At what's next. Just a suggestion

not looking for an argument or anything.
We should rename this to the "Gnraly Bass Thread". But I do feel the same. The whole deep growl is kinda spent. "All those nasty bass sounds – I think the novelty of that has kind of worn off." - Kill the noise. And I agree with him. Dubstep is really moving to a pop sound. More drawn out melodic chords and less processed bass. Well, at least that is only popular dubstep.
I don't know anymore. I was all about the filthy bass 24/7. I've even had to put neurofunk down for it being too all over the place and too much for me.
I don't even know what to like anymore. Lately i've been digging deep house & just weird obscure experimental electronic tunes. Might as well go out and by myself a fedora and grow out a neckbeard at this rate.

I get what you/he means but at the same time no one is telling the metal bands that the novelty of the distorted guitar sound has worn off. I know it's not the same but IMO it's all about how you use the sounds. Sure, it's always good to keep it fresh but if people stop trying to make the sickest bass and instead just focus on finding a nice groove you can still make killer tracks, at this point it's pretty much a core sound for the genre. The reason dubstep is so stagnant is because no one gives a shit about composition as long as your bass is nastier than the other dudes. When the arms race stops maybe the soul can find it's way back into the music.

I was getting some really good shit with just squelchy on bend +/-, bandreject with series through hipass 2 and parabolic shaper with a light classic tube in massive today and I was automating the cutoff and the pitch and the bandwith I think and I had an envelope of the cutoff on the hipass for a bit of a punch to the attack of the sound. I'd post a result, but I dont really like cluttering my soundcloud.
