The most important book i ever read, i dont think i'd be into half of what makes up my lifestyle if it wasn't for finding this book.vivace wrote:'On The Road'
Finally finished it! It was pretty good. What I liked about it is that it goes into a bit more detail than most popular science books. Almost like it was halfway between a popular science book and a textbook. Explanations were generally decent, although there were a few bits here and there which were a bit hazy. Uses a lot of analogies to help describe things which helps. Downside is that it was a bit repetitive in places, where she just repeats the same point again and again within a short space, I think it's fairly clear that she wrote bits of it a different times. So probably could've done with slightly better editing. Not gonna hold that against the book though!magma wrote:Lemme know how it is... looks good!kay wrote:Just started reading this a few nights ago:
Picked it up a while ago, wish I hadn't left it this long to read it. It been a good read so far and is probably one of the better books I've read on subject. If I remember correctly, she was one of the original proponents of M-theory. Seems to be a pretty good communicator, pity she doesn't seem to be generally as well known as the other physics bods.
Also, I find her vaguely hawt!
That's an epic book.808_sustained_bassdrum wrote:
Yeah, I avoided it a little while because of that... thought it would be a bit "Ross Kempy On Gangs", but he seems a really decent bloke. Reminds me a bit of Louix Theroux.cr1tt3r wrote:This one has been on my shortlist for ages, almost bought it once but the tagline on the cover turned me off, it's like a bad action movie. Yeah, I know the old saying...magma wrote:Just finished:
Highly recommended...
May well pick it up... you're being a good recommendation-source at the moment, kay... I've just started Evolution!kay wrote:Finally finished it! It was pretty good. ha, nice timing, just picked this up used for 2 bucks the other day, I opened it up on some random page and fell in love with what I was reading, read lots of Burroughs (like 10 years back), but had never even heard of this one...whitelight wrote:
Read Naked Lunch a while ago and loved it. This one is way less chaotic and confusing while keeping a very artistic writing style. It's also a novella, way shorter and easier to read than Naked Lunch.
Ghost of Chance revolves around the destruction of ancient nature by man and how life will take it's revenge. It's a very powerful and sad text, full of beauty and hatred. Probably my favorite book ever...
