Apparently, passing on your 2nd attempt correlates with the safest driving... I passed first time (scraped through with the maximum minors allowed)... somehow I managed to fail my first go at the theory though!

Really? That makes no sense....
I passed in 1st attempt on driving and theory on both license for normal cars and license for trucks. ;-)

Britain and northern Europe have much stricter tests than the rest of the world.

I passed 1st time with 7 minors, nearly all of them for my hill start where i stalled then drove off without checking blind spot

The statistics bore it out when I passed anyway... theory goes that a lot of 1st time passers are a bit flukey, whereas people that pass 2nd time are usually pretty polished by the time they go for the retake.

my minors were so weak n all

1) braking to hard during an emergency stop (wtf)
2) turning the key in the ignition while the car was already running (thought i had stalled after the emergency stop)

edit: magma how on earth did you rack up 15 minors?!

Failed the theory first time myself cause I strolled in with the attitude "this'll be a piece of piss".

Passed practical first time though with like 2 minors. Probably should've been more judging my the state of my parallel parking these days.

It was 13 back in the day... I can't really remember what they were all for. Examiner was a bit of a bastard, to be honest... I reckon he knew he was going to pass me, but was looking for as many things as possible to talk about at the end. One of them was hesitation for waiting for someone to start turning into a junction before pulling out of it... I remember thinking at the time that I would've got a major for dangerous driving if I'd pulled out on the strength of someone signalling.

Still... passed first time, scraped up the side of my Mum's car within 10 days. :h: :corncry:
