Bit harsh, wub... next you'll be slapping Ninjas in the face for no good reason! :P

burn them in for about 6 hours before listening to them

they'll sound really fucking disappointing if you listen to them straight out of the box

I'm going to make a dash for the door, I think... had nothing to do all day, so I'm going to take my payday winnings, buy a [very] big bag of high-grade and see what ensues.

Is there a proper way to do this? I tend to just leave new headphones plugged in with loud music playing for a few hours, starting at low volumes and increasing every hour or so.

What i usually do is leave them overnight with the static from between radio stations playing through them. This last time though i got and audio file from a website that has various tones that sweep through the audible frequency range (and a little bit beyond i guess) and played it on a loop.

Here's a web page about breaking in headphones: http://headphonebreakin.blogspot.com/

Smoking on some bubble haze, loverly.. :U:

just won a pair of fully refurbished technics 1210 mk2s, an allen and heath xone 32, some sennheiser hd 280s, some ortofon carts and flight cases for the decks pon ebay. Way more than I was hoping to spend, but I still think it was an alright deal.

Glad I seen this, got some HD-205's for christmas, although burn in probably wouldn't make much of a difference to low-midrange headphones like those if i'm reading correctly from

Just remembered, last night I was in bed falling asleep with Ideal on the telly and heard Scuba - So You Think You're Special being played on there as background music. Was the nicest thing in the world to fall asleep to. Some of the sound guys at the BBC are serious about music, heard so many percies on Top Gear through the years too.
