maybe go for a real basic song structure
if you got like midi blocks or if not try to make some and move them around until it feels good,
like yeah i like that this sound entered here kind of feel
form there you can always go back to a wilder structure but it might still feel easier

hi there :)

sorry, internet connection is still not really sorted out so uploading anything is out of the question for now :( (also i need a chair in my production setup...i know, how's that for a shitty excuse?).

also sorry for the laconic feedback...

@Jizzy: sick beat, tho i feel the beginning's a bit empty, not sure if its a deliberate
choice or it just needs to be finished? great work on all the atmospheric glitches and
incidentals too. mixdown sounds fine to me but am on headphones so dont trust me.

@Mason: feeling the atmo synths in the intro. the sub coming in at 0:28's a bit overpowering
the rest(but am on headphones so that could be just me). really feeling the weird synth coming
around 1:00. for the beat i think you could throw in another different, maybe less snappy,
snare at times to shuffle the whole thing a bit? not sure how unclear this is :D

@Yilan: some heavy stuff right there! not really feeling the snare though, i feel it's a bit
too drum machine-ey for my taste (but hey personal opinion). i'd also suggest messing with the
vocal sample a bit to give it more variety. cannot point anything wrong with the mixdown, but again,
headphones...

re: the berghain thing, yeah locals told me they sort of have a "no tourist" policy, think i'll wait that i look more like a hipster/hobo before i queue for hours outside :D

@zosomagik:these closed hihats! loving the groove you got going on, that melody and
the way it interacts with your bassline is right up my alley too. sorry for the shit feedback
can't fault this one tbh (actually i wouldn't mind having a go at the stems when my internet connection
allows me to dl large files)

@Bud:
Wegmann: liking the choir-like synth ( reminds me of fatima al-qadiri), great sound design and movement on your bass.
snares are hitting just right for me, but i'd say the kick could hit harder? maybe if you layer another
kick higher up on the frequency spectrum... i'm not sure about the additional melody on the last
section, but probably just personal taste
Starship: not sure what to think of this one, i kinda like the kuedo-esque 80's vibe but
not really feeling the squelchy synth coming in at 1:30, a bit too cheesy imo. maybe you could go all
4 on the floor with the kick at some point? also i feel you could put a large room reverb on some of your snares
to bring some change.

@nowaysj: the breaks seems a bit drawn in the rest of the mixdown at times, I'd suggest turning down
your synths a bit (if you'd actually went back to previous weeks tracks...:P), liking that sub
around the 1:40 mark. also could have done with a slighly less abrupt ending. other than that liking the
overall vibe, i think i'm getting used to the nowaysj-patented directionlessness that somehow still
ends up going somewhere...

i miss TUNAing :corncry:

i guess its fair to say we dont have real rules anymore 8)

basically just about what you work on over the week so you can enter with it now as a wip or next week as a more developed wip/tune

Okay guys I'll be, again, likely outside of the internet's reach. I should be back by Saturday for the next upload, so start your engines.

You've got to commit to this shit for it to work. Like under any circumstance youre going to get a track far enough to post up. You'll be late for work, you'll stay up late, you'll set the alarm and get up early, you'll skip meals, you'll skip time with your loved ones, no tv, no games, no drinking, all that until the track is done.

Commit to it. Week in and week out. It is really hard. I don't think bud has missed a week, and mf usually's got a couple or three tracks... I've missed a couple of weeks, at great pains.

It won't work unless you make the choice to do it no matter what.
