I spent yesterday installing an amp & sub in my car.
Most of it trying to find a hole for the power wire to get to the car battery.
Last thing I wanted to do was drill.
So in the end I had my drill out ready to drill through the firewall.

I figured someone else must have had this problem and checked it out online.
Turns out after all my searching and trying to push a grommet out of its hole, there's a hole with a solid plug in that just had to be removed.
It ended up being a 5 minute job after 3 hours of searching and prodding.

All excited, get my car radio out only to realize the stock radio that comes with the car doesn't have rca connections for the amp.
FUCK

I bought a line in rca converter but can most likely only install it tonight after training or tomorrow.
I should have just taken it in to get installed but I couldn't be arsed to pay some tnuc to do such a basic task.

Haha shit. Been there too man. Took me all fucking day to get it done.
I had a mate with me who said he knew how to do it, but we started at around 2 in the afternoon and I think it must've been 7pm when we finally got everything working. I remember the entire interior of my car being apart at one point. What a shit thing to do.

In the end its worth it though. So good luck.

Yeh, I got the line converter now so it's really just another 30 minutes or so to splice the line converter to the existing cables and I'm off.
It's definitely worth it.
I blew my speakers a few months back and have just been dealing with it for the last while.
Sub Bass has new meaning when your speakers distort so heavily it sounds good

Yeah I don't think I'll be doing it myself the next time either. And the shittiest part is to get the balance of the lows, mids en highs right after everything's installed. I tried to quickly do it myself withouth properly knowing how my radio worked and mine has really been completely fucked eversince. The bass is way too loud, but I cant be arsed to read through the manual of the radio to see how to do it properly either.

I'm not concerned with that.
We set the system up previously with a different head unit and I've been using the same speakers for some time.
It should just be a matter of applying the amps LP filter and checking the gain.

Used to spend almost every Saturday with my car in bits fiddling with stuff like that. I miss having a heap of metal to pour time and love into!
