I'm amazed at how much support this dude has. Personally I've never heard one single tune from him that did anything for me. I don't feel like his music is very listenable in a normal setting. It seems like it's strictly dance music.

:( Spliff Dub and it's remix by Rustie are both gold.

that's a pretty odd statement seeing as how his catalog of releases is pretty diverse... you've got stuff from where were u in '92 to spliff dub to digital flora/fauna (not only my favorite zomby tunes, but among my all time favorites) to dedication...

I love conversations about copyright, and sampling infringement.
It's funny to see a guy who's got like thousands of tunes and one tiny vocal stab repeated thought one song and... POOF all credibility out the window. That just doesn't make any sense, I'm sure with Zombys work flow there isn't really any way to regulate what he choses to sample, and I would hate to see an artist like him confined into the rules of copyright. What I like about sample based music is the fact that it's illegal. There's a sense of bent time in a sample, and yes Dilla is great and knew this fact true. Then again if that Russian singer has brothers in the Mafia and as she put "Want's the money" I'm sure Mr. Zomby could buy em off in one show.

lol how do people still not get the point of this, he did not sample, he stole (as far as we know).

Feel it's a bit pointless to carry this on, but again, this isn't a sampling issue. This is an issue with him initiating contact with a guy under the guise of a collaboration, looping the guys work 4 times, cutting out one vocal snippet, and putting it out under your own name with no intention of giving him any credit. SURELY you can see the difference between that and sampling? If Dilla said he wanted to collaborate with someone, let them do 95% of the work and then put it out solely under his name, I'd have an issue with that too.

I guess for a lot of people, his credibility has took a hit because of the issue I mentioned above, and all the shit about "I wrote that tune for Burial", and the probably made up shit about "I almost got shot over that sample in Moscow". Not only did he screw Reark over, he made up all that bullshit to go along with it.

If you like Zomby, then fair enough, carry on liking him, I like some of his tunes too, but don't try and compare what he did with Natalia's Song to Dilla.

Note to Zomby, please release a 12" with Velodrome on it (or can the producer who actually made it put it on soundcloud  ) :U:
