everything was said in case of breaks
but halfstep is still kind of a musical terra incognita
freedom of work and space u have gives u much more for your experiments than 140bpm rolling breakbeat :)
Leofah - i wrote this earlier in this thread and that's what i think

sorry dude, my personal opinion -

its easier to be convincing doing full speed beats, but harder to make it really interesting without sounding over the top... erm I guess thats sitting on the fence!

Why should they have to? There's plenty of breaky producers coming through dude - Dubchild, Quiet Storm, all the storming camp guys...

In my eyes, that's a totally different scene. When I think of 'fullsteppas' (as you call them  ) I think of early tempa stuff - Dub War, Horsepower etc.

no ones saying they have to...

...but I'm betting toasty/vexd/boxcutter/quiet storm can make halfsteppas a lot easier than i bet loefah/skream/scuba/mala can make fullsteppas

I'm not really part of the "scene" but the fact that there is a lot of crossover with labels like hotflush and storming between the full and halfstep camp in my eyes says it's just one big genre collectively known as dubstep...

..cos i still think that breakstep is what baobinga/quest/mutiny/darqwan etc make and that is more in line with breaks than dubstep and what r33l mentioned as slowed down d'n'b

i've been warned to be on my best behaviour or i'll get banned by the thought police, i mean moderators so don't antagonise me...

...but if you'd listen to our stuff as just music without petty personal prejudice against me you'd hear that we already have

say were'nt you fluffing around making wannabe dubstep also ???

either way making decent full or halfsteppas is no easy thing as I'm sure you found out

oh however will i sleep at night doomy...

...so lets hear JJ's beats then

there ya go an open invitation to promote your stuff in the put up or shut up style...

...and let's try and keep the insults to a bare minimum eh ???

as for the opinions they arent supposed to go unnoticed and i don't think I've ever referred to us "big boy producers" sounds a bit ghey if you ask me...

...the fact is I think dubstep is the one genre that's pushing the boundaries of contemporary electronica by slowing the beats to halftime but it appears to be stuck in a rut as to where to next

now as part of a relatively few in number group of artists working sometimes in halfstep we are offering our direction as something new in a relatively new genre...

...if you don't like it, fine it's all subjective anyway but let's do at least try and be mature, intelligent about our opinions and criticisms

the other fact is unfortunately, you don't even know me and looking stupid on the internet only equates to words on a screen again. It doesn't affect who i am and what i do in the real world...
