If I said Groove Chronicles - 99 or Horsepower Productions - In Fine Style was a shotgun blast to the knee of garage, would you assume I didn't like it?
I really like "Wut", but I do think if it wasn't the tune that kickstarted this whole "bass music" thing, then it was the most prominent tune around the time that the change happened.
i guess coming from the land of hip hop/trap/etc, it just didn't seem that different... just the next logical step out of that sound
i assumed a shotgun blast to the knee was bad, because i have yet to hear anyone exclaim that they received a shotgun blast to the knee with joy
I get that, I just took it to mean it was the end of "traditional" dubstep. Whether that was good or bad is ambiguous.
it all went bad as soon as i saw some bro wearing a 909,808,707 tshirt lol
things move on, things become shite, people copy and the good ones move on leaving a good imprint behind that men with computers try to make plaster casts of the og bronze artufacts, but plaster casts fall apart quickly like shitty chinese facsimiles sullying the memories of

i don’t know maybe surgeon was the first one to ruin dubsptep? what happened? it’s all a very distressing. for example 2006 we had a number of celebrations held in salzburg and around the world, for the 250th anniversary of the birth of wolfgang amadeus mozart. each country had his own take on how to do it, but they were all making spacey, dark celebration for big big requiems.more sidechain, more falsettos, more everything. maximize to maximize.
along came the return of the volkswagen golf. roof racks, inner door handles and battery box by dre. no point in making soul sounds for something that can't drive medium distances. so we throw in a bunch of jolly ranchers. take the sour blue raspberry of the assorted flavors and make them the focus. red vine noise. bubblegum pop anything that can be heard until a catholic grade school class writes to the company to request that a blue flavor be created. the result? something that sounds like dubstep, except they took out all the good parts and replaced with crap. fucking r.kelly. it’s all so heart-rending

I don't see how Wut could be a shotgun blast to the knee of dubstep since there are still lots of people making quality dubstep. Maybe it was a shotgun blast to the hipster music mags interest in dubstep? If the hipsters want to listen to trap or footwork or whatever that's cool with me, and it doesn't stop me from listening to dubstep either.
