don't camp directly next to the ways. to bring a tarp is also a good idea. you can use that as a sun/rain shield (hopefully sun though, had enough rain last year).

P.s Don't camp near any toilets.
Oh yeah the ground is a fucking mess, its mroe quarry than campsite

Anyone tried staying in Pula before in a hostel or something? How bad/expensive is it getting back and forth from the festival? Also does anyone have a link for apartment sharing for the festival or something like that (if it exists)? I was going to go with a friend but they dropped out. Will be heading solo but left accommodation quite late...

From 2013 there is distinction in the Croatian penal code between various illegal substances, they are now separated on heavy drugs and light drugs like Marijuana. According to the law, growing or selling cannabis is considered a felony punishable by a mandatory prison sentence (three years minimum) and from 2013 the possession of small amount of marijuana and other light drugs is a misdemeanor which leads to a fine of 5000–20000kn ($800–3500) depending on the case in question.[28] In all cases the cannabis must be confiscated.

Massive fine, but at least there isn't a jail sentence attached to it any more

yes but the interesting part was how croatian police arrest the drugheads
The way most people seemed to be caught (including in front of my very eyes) was by undercovers in the crowd who would see people smoking spliffs or doing bumps and barge over and search them. Friend of a friend at outlook was caught smoking a joint and had the shit kicked out of him by 5 or 6 croat police meatheads (had a bust up face to prove it), but actually claims to have managed to run away. Don't know if this is bollocks (probably) but still worth bearing in mind, they are definitely not like the police here who will often have a bit of a laugh with you for something like weed. The undercovers are relatively easily to spot: massive croatian bodybuilders wearing shitty attempts at 'young person' clothing. You just need to be on your guard, and don't do stupid stuff like be buying stuff in really blatant areas. The campsite at Outlook (and presumably dimensions and perhaps hideout) was a bit more chilled, didnt really see any police around there: just loads of security who are mainly there to keep the croatian thieves and rapists out (outlook 2011...).

What happened in 2011? Lots of crime?
My mate who went last year said there were no problems at all smoking in public

Police & security are fine if youre not massively bait about it, campsites big enough that they leave you to go about your business . Security were much more annoying & strict at the UK festivals i went to last year.

Ahh doubt my girlfriend would like me leaving her at the airport.

Havent decided where to fly to yet, too hard to pick cheap but long and far away or expensive and direct and near.

its like 350 quid for a flight straight to Pula now.
