Oh right I forgot, Youtube comments are always intelligent, well thought out and have enough credibility to reflect what the average listener/fan is thinking.

Oasis were an alright band I thought, good happy drinking music

I loathe lager anthems, pass.

Good shouts Gene, not that I've heard any of them apart from Afghan Whigs but still, Black Horse was particularly nice, not very 90s, timeless quality I guess.

Yeah Unsane and Helmet over Oasis

Though a fairly good amount of bands in this thread so far have been better than Oasis regardless. haha

Pretty much every mention has been better than Oasis.

There were a couple other generic over rated British bands of the period though included here and there though who were only slightly better.

Yea for some reason people wank over pop british bands thinking their the new Beatles (also over rated imo) or saviors of pop rock when they're just generic as fuck.

Blur was decent though, and The Gorillaz spawned from that.

Not hugely bothered about Blue to be honest. Not bad but I can't be arse with them

Surprised to see no mention of Eyehategod yet during the listing of bands better than Oasis though.

Eyehategod was great.
Was it the 90s or 00s that Staind and Cold got bigger? They were always guilty pleasures for me along with Linkin Park back when, hell I saw all 3 of them on the same tour a few times.

Oh fuck no. I never got into Linkin Park. I was only like 12 or something when everyone got into Hybrid theory but was already playing mixtapes of Sepultura and Discharge and shit on my walkman on the school bus.

Haha I was as well, but got into them as I was singing for a band that covered a couple of their tunes. Linkin Park used to be great and anyone denying it probably used to rock their tapes.

I honestly listened to their album a few times as mates were into it but I could never get beyond it being alright background music.

The band I was into closest to the whole nu metal thing was Deftones who I have since though were kind of fairly beyond that scene

Yea Deftones always did their own thing, hell Chino's new project Palms is great as well.
