Those are Rokits? What model are they? I was actually thinking of picking some RP8's up last week on a 3 month pay sort of thing, but i needed to wait for a pay check. Im so tired of this piece of shit sub, and this even worse guitar amp, which is currently used as a low quality speaker and an additional subwoofer to add to the weakness of shitty panasonic .

my yamahas came with the packing foam like around the monitors length ways, so i have them on it, but it takes up so much space on my desk! i have no room for anything else!

Why not just tilt them vertical and grab some room?

I can't stand it when my station is all cluttered and space lacking.

the monitors are vertical, but cos the packing foam was around them length ways, itself takes up loads of room on my desk not the monitors themselves, they are still pretty big though haha

yeah that haha, but i havent left them 'on' as such like in the picture at the top of the page, ive just taken one of them of each monitor and turned it round and placed the monitor on top of it, so that like in that link says, its not resting on the desk, as it would cause all sorts of nasty vibrations then, and probably will cause the desk to increase the volume of certain frequencies. i just didnt wanna buy proper proper foam haha

Yeah this makes alot of sense actually, do you have extra mouse pads? I could see those working really well.

Cheers mate :)

The place is a kip in that picture. I was recording a band so everything was getting moved around.

Its a tidy little set up now thou.

There is a set Technics SL1210 MK2's with a Pioneer DJM-600 mixer
Saffare Pro 40 Soundcard
Focusrite OctoPre - Get this for free off a mate, he got a better preamp said he wasn't using this and its been lying in my set up for a while, very clean sounding.
Boss SE-70 Multi Effects Unit - Little gem I like to play with every now and then, its a Digital FX unit but it has an analog distortion circuit in it, its REALLY REALLY NOISEY, everything coming out of it has to be gated. The Delays and Reverb and chorus are really nice too. The whole unit is scattered all over Prodigys first 3 Albums. Pick'em up second hand for around 150 euro. Would recommend to anyone wanting a bit of hardware but not wanting to break the bank.
Then M-Audio BX8a studio monitors

The other bits I never use
Behringer Composer (compressor)
Behringer Feedback Destoryer - Got this years and years and years ago when I played in a band and had problems with feedback probably t

the reason why you are experiencing so much noise with this fx unit is because its meant to receive instrument level signals, you are giving it line level signals, you need to attenuate the signal before it goes in to the unit. Get/build yourself a re-amp box...think about a DI box but in reverse (you can do this, but its not recommended), http://www.recordingmag.com/resources/r ... l/314.html

I can understand what your saying because the box is for guitars. I only get the noise when I add the analog distortion and its an old box I bought it second hand from a Japan, do you still a re-amp box could improve the noise problems?

Yeah there BX8a's, what do you think of them? I've noticed the top end can be quiet sharp, slighty distorted even. I checked it up on sound on sound and it had a good way to help reduce this issue and thats to lower the volume at the back of the speakers as much as possible so your soundcard is powering the monitors more, I've done that and although its improved I still think its an issue. Having said that thou I've been using them for a good while and I'm used to it, plus I have some relatively cheap logitech speakers with a subwoofer that I can a/b test to get an idea of how things sound on an average home system.
