Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
Instrument rack or ctrl+d to duplicate the track
Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
lol I dragged a vst too low, and hit the settings to bring it up again to edit/load a synth, now it's like under my Explorer bar, so i can't get at it. Is there a way to reset it somehow? silly Q

think you're making a massive fuss cos takes 2 seconds to delete those extra files.Attila wrote:That's what I've been trying to fix. It creates a folder with a bunch of irritating sub folders (Project 1-7-8; Samples; Recorded) and an alc file. I just think it's stupid you can't drag a file out without Live making a mess out of it.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
yeah if you're using drum racks it's easy, if you're in session view then click on the arrow at the top of the track and it expands the rack into all the component parts, if you're on the arrange view then click the part you want to add the fx to then when it comes up on the bottom of the screen you can see a line after the simpler that contains the drum part. just put your fx before that line and it will only be applied to that part, put it after the line and it's applied to the whole rack.sn0wday wrote: Also, so I want to eq my drums. I have all my percussion on one instance of drum rack, how can I eq JUST the kicks, or JUST the snares? Adding an EQ to the drum rack EQs every piece of percussion. Is there a way to single out different parts or do i need to re-do my percussion in order to single out samples to EQ?
Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
I just got a focusrite saffire 6 and it came with live lite. Does anyone find that everything has to be turned up considerably to get a punchy sound out of it? I remember reading something on here where someone said that you have to turn the velocity of the drums up to 60... why should this be necessary?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Make sure you uncheck "Create Fades on Clip Edges" in Preferences>Record, Warp, Launch.
Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
Sorry was that directed at me?Disco Nutter wrote:Make sure you uncheck "Create Fades on Clip Edges" in Preferences>Record, Warp, Launch.

always have the drum velocity at 100 and just turn down the volume if they are too loud for you. Then you can adjust the velocity for more human sounding drums. sdlkfjsldkfPerej wrote:I just got a focusrite saffire 6 and it came with live lite. I just went in and made a little 4x4 beat. I turned the velocity of a goldbaby 808 kick to 100 then pushed the DB up to +36. It was still quiet... I'm not even kidding.
I did the same thing in FL and it nearly blew my face off it was so loud. What the hell is this??

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
why is there a limiter on there? i know its off but still why?
it's all redlining to fuck, dunno what you're doing. the velocity setting that you've got set to 100% that basically controls the sensitivity when you set the velocity of the midi notes, i.e set to 100% it's very sensitive to changes, i usually have that set somewhere between 40-60%.
what i don't get is how it's redlining to fuck but it's quiet.

Limiter was a mistake.symmetricalsounds wrote:why is there a limiter on there? i know its off but still why?

redlining as in clipping? Yeah I know it was just to take a screenie though. Normally I turn everything down to atleast -6db but in Ableton it's a fucking pain in the ass because it's so quiet I can't even enjoy listening to the stuff I'm making.

well i've never had this issue, have all levels in ableton set right and then just turn up volume on my interface.

Sorry, was thinking about the case when you're doing drums in audio. It's still a good idea to keep it off, in my opinion.Perej wrote:Sorry was that directed at me?Disco Nutter wrote:Make sure you uncheck "Create Fades on Clip Edges" in Preferences>Record, Warp, Launch.

Re: The Ableton Q&A Thread
just noticed your master channel is set below 0, so you wanna put that back to 0. then you wanna systematically just go through things like turning all other channels off, then turn them back on one by one checking all the settings. make a new channel with just a simpler in it and put the drum sample in there and see if there is still the same problem. make a new midi pattern on the drum rack channel and see how that goes.
after doing all that hopefully you realise it's something silly, if not well come back with more screenshots and we'll see.

What happens when you put the kick in an audio channel?
