I wouldn't worry about it tbh mate. Besides, lighter weights allow you to perfect form before moving up.
Perfect form + light weights > Shit form + lifting like a bad man
Do you just use machines, or you mixing up with any free weights?
i bench press and curl about 25kg now and again. i'm mainly concentrating on cardio (rower predominately) just because i've smoked heavily for the past 7 years or so with little to no exercise in between.
am absolutely reaping the benefits from going, physically and mentally. easily one of the best dicisions i've ever made in my life. even noticing small developments like 'oo my shoulders look bigger' make it so worth while.

i do 3x10 on resistance machines apart from 5x10 on the one that works the abs.
some days i do more weights than cardio and vica versa.
proper into the gym, no lie!
with free weights i do as many as i can till it hurts really

the guy who does 50 once would have had to do 25 (even me)
...they don't care.
And if they do...they're idiots.

Safe
If you want a bit of variation, try mixing up the grips on the rower - do 1min flat out @ lv10 with an overhand (regular) grip, then 2min at about 70/80% of your flat out speed @ lv10 with an underhand (reverse) grip - you'll work the forearms and biceps more. 12mins of that with a 3min warmup/cool down @ lv5 either side

biggles, cheers for the tip.
i'm gonna progress to kettlebells and the power plate etc once i feel i'm comfortable.
gonna buy some protein shakes soon too. tell you what though, i've become well anal about calories. i look at a packet of crisps and think, nah that's 10 minutes on machine to burn that, i'd rather go without!

Well more like an hour! youd be bloody lucky to burn 200+ off in ten mins
Still you get healthy by avoiding it anyway! Gym makes you so much more awar eof what you eat!
I really need to get back on the gym wagon, fucked my shoulder ages back and it ruined me.
Went from being able to do like 3 sets of 10 chin ups with a 10KG weight gripped to my feet to struggeling to do 10 in genral
Also worth remembering dude doing 50KG has been hammering it for a long time, I couldnt curl 3 sets of 10 at 5KG when I started and by 6 months in i was doing it with 16KG in each hand.
Key is progression, each time you go try to up the weight even if it is tiny amounts. Muscles grow by breaking and reparing, if you dont break them by increasing the load you are slowing the growth down as your body adjusts to the next weight.
Ill shut up now as I tend to go on abit when it comes to gym stuff haha

I thought it was good, but it always seems to be the ones you least expect that people end up loving.
better finish it now

Don't you have nasty stretch marks now? Sounds like too much too soon.

you know what i mean although i do clock about 800 per hour on the rowing machine.
oh yeah i know that the guy doing 50 has been at it longer, but it's like yer natural instincts.. who is the greater predator of them all? i don't really care and i still get on with it but the thought does pop into my head now and again.
yeah i have upped the weights since going which is good. i should really get on the shakes to be fair to help. still finding my feet with it all but i'm getting so into it i can see it taking over my life.
talk about it all day mate, i wanna hear it!
