Kahn
Re: Kahn
anyone have any clues as to what kinda stuff kahn uses? something about his sounds and mixdown really makes his stuff stand out, especially his drums.
I think his synth sounds are pretty massive-y or could be done there. but in terms of drum hits and sounds, anyone got a clue what kinda samples he'd use? I've come pretty close with some of the kicks in some garage sample pack, its the snares i'm after, haha.

Yeah i'm pretty sure this is where you get the sounds from. I was on more about his mix down techniques and his selection of plugins, his distortion/bitcrushing work is phenomenal, super smacky drumstopmo3 wrote:some of his older productions such as "Like we used to" i'm almost sure feature this old "ukgaragesamples" pack which at least sounds like it's from around the first garage wave from 10 yrs ago or so
Re: Kahn

Re: Kahn
pretty sure i've heard the abelton ping-pong delay and the reverbs on his tracks, the ableton delay has a certain sound to it. not entirely sure of course but its an educated guess.dubunked wrote:like what?admiral c wrote:thats cool, I think i hear some of the ableton effects on his productions.Johoosh wrote:I know he uses Ableton.
Re: Kahn
I saw Kahn play tonight but some strange things happened. Playing most of his set off his macbook(not dubstep) and not really mixing them, wedding DJ business. Played a few records/ dubs then went back to his macbook. Wonder what's up.

Its likely its suttin to do with the turntables, or unless he's playing material he hasn't cut, like you said if it wasn't dubstep and more ambient/vocal stuff, no point cutting it really.

Well, here: (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_McGann) it says the guys name is Paul McGann. Here (http://www.sonicrouter.com/2011/04/sr-m ... ure-skank/), Kahn says his name is Joseph McGann. On the wikipedia page, it says Paul McGann has 2 sons - Joe and Jake. Jake is also an actor. None of their pages say anything about Bristol...
