I just played the witcher 1 & 2 b2b because i have no life.

1 was decent enough though incredibly long and combat as repetetive as hell + just as things were getting interesting you get whisked off to some random village and have to sort a marriage out or something.

2 was really good though perhaps a little short, storyline and plotting is top notc. No idea how they'll factor in all the different endings for #3

I got Witcher 1 already and have only played about half an hour of it. Witcher 2 is currently on sale so considering buying it.

Is it worth playing the first or should i just start playing the second straight away?

Idk, it depends how into playing the RPG aspect of it you are. It takes a loong time to get going, you spend lots of time just wandering around doing stuff not that relevant to the plot, but definitely introduces you to the lore and feels quite realistic in terms of the set up- as a monster-hunter you make a living hunting monsters.

Witcher 2 is a lot more plot based, less RPG more action i would say, so if you prefer that then i would go straight for it. In terms of story theres almost no link between the two- the prologue of 2 does a decent fist of describing everything.

i started playing witcher 2 a while back but i stopped right away because the thought of playing yet another fantasy themed RPG was exhausting.. I think im burned out on the fantasy stuff for a bit..

i started up alpha protocol, good writing/dialogue as to be expected from obsidian but damn the controls are kind of shit. graphics are pretty ugly too but thats something i can deal with.

It's worth it, great game with some flaws.

The stupid hacking was enough to make me uninstall the game, now it just sits there on steam.

It's not your typical fantasy setting (more of a low fantasy setting like Game of Thrones), it's a more mature setting for starters with racism and pretty much everything being moral grey areas and decisions being the same (plus OMG sex is normal and not taboo). The kicker is there is a decision that has 2 very different paths you take in the game with different ending which adds a ton of replayabilty to it. As in the game is completely different past a certain decision you make.
The Witcher 1 is awesome but takes a few chapters to start to get interesting, that and a lot of people hate the combat, but there are some mods for it and to enhance the graphics as well, along with more quests etc

I liked it so much I beat it in one sitting, to each their own. Then again it's an Obsidian title so it's mainly about the story and writing, not amazing gameplay.

vishes wrote:Just played the Dead Space 3 demo. Was kinda expecting to be disappointed and still wasn't sure if I would be getting it, but it actually wasn't that bad tbh. For some reason I was thinking it was going to be quite different and more like a third person CoD or something but luckily that wasn't at all the case. I definitely think I'll be getting it when it gets released.

Also still not sure if I should get Okami HD or not... Is it worth it? Always loved the style and setting of it though. Plus I've read that it's a fairly long game as well.
I had massive expectations for Assassins Creed 3 and got left very dissapointed. I know I can't compare Dead Space with Assassins Creed but I promised myself to not set my hopes high this time, but I do get more exited reading this.

Well for some reason Witcher 1 doesn't like streaming at stable framerates with OBS so that's on hold for now (the guys who popped by the stream know this) So streaming Morrowind all decked out graphics wise and with a bit of content additions for now.
Been getting my ARPG fix on as well,
Having a blast with Akaneiro: Demon Hunters lately (f2p ARPG from American McGee's studio) http://www.angry-red.com/
Gonna give Path of Exile a try again, had a closed beta account back when, but couldn't get into it due to Torchlight 2 still being fresh.
Speaking of Torchlight 2, huge content mod for that which breathes plenty of fresh life into the game including a new class (Necromancer) among other things http://www.moddb.com/mods/synergiesmod
