also, my girlfriends "best" friends come into my resteraunt at 1030 last night. which is shitty because we close at 11, but whatever. they wait until 11 to order, and long story short, end up staying until after midnight just shitting around doing nothing. this makes me miss the last bus home, so i had to take a $30 taxi home

I know you north americans like to be polite in restaurants and all, but couldn't you have politely told them you were closing?

what we usually do in that situation is wait until 11:15/11:30 and give you your bill. that way you at least get time to eat your food...plus these people are "friends" of mine we needed to go that route. so we did that, and it took them half an hour to decide how to divvy up a $120 bill between 8 of them.

Sigh. Hope they remembered to give you a good tip.

Uh oh I may have been wrong...I just have a strong memory of my science teacher telling me that Portland has the second highest amount of rainfall in the world, followed by a place in Washington.
