A word of advice to men: women appreciate a nice bed sheet to lay on even if your bed is small. A queen size mattress (and up) would be perfect. And lots of pillows! At least three for us [me]. Also, if you don't like spooning us (which we like most of the time), you should sleep on the couch so we can have the whole bed.
