I may replace the lat pulldown with pull-ups next week. They're hurting the space between my bicep and front delt when I do them, ugh. There's a weird 'clicking' sound in my arm when I do them and I have some more problems there.
Pull ups are a far better movement. although, I hate doing them.

I wanted to switch it up since I'd already done pull-ups a few months ago. But I'm doubtful I'll have many results since they'll directly follow 4 sets of chin-ups and I'm 5 kgs heavier than I was when I last did them. Pull-ups are pretty specialized in that no other movement really seems to translate to 'pull-up strength'.

Does anyone notice an overal better treatment from people, especially strangers and women (but any demographic, really. Including just standard heterosexual males) after you're getting a better looking body/bigger? Despite the increase in more flirtatious or friendly/polite behavior from women and getting checked out more, I also have more people of any kind, including just older men in line at the grocery store, innitiating smalltalk with me.

I've gained 16 lbs since I started lifting again in September and I went out to town in the heat wearing but a wifebeater. The change of behavior in other people towards me has been tremendous where I'm really kind of shocked.

Any experiences y'all willing to share? This is turning into a social experiment to me.

From an evolutionary standpoint, I see this as a respect mechanism. As you get stronger people notice that. They think that you must put a lot of time bettering your self and this is typically viewed as a virtue. Also the strongest male was usually the leader of the group in the olden days, and humans usually treat leaders with respect. The flirtatious thing probably has to do with women viewing you has having a healthy genes thus a desirable m8.

Oh no definitely, I agree with all of that. It's not so much it happening that surprises me because it makes total sense evolutionarily speaking, but HOW MUCH difference that it makes does surprise me and I'm wondering how much else people who lift experience the same thing or if this is all in my head.

Because of my tall build I've always had relatively skinny legs. I've never had a an issue with definition but really struggle to build my quads. The long gap between my knee and lateralis makes them look 10 times worse (I know that's purely genetics). I've decided to go all out this winter and try to build some decent quad mass. Can anyone point me in the direction on a good leg routine which focuses heavily on the quads?

My leg workout currently is;

Squats
leg press
that standing one where you swing your leg back
leg curl
leg extension

However, I've got legs like fucking tree trunks so im not interested in building so much as working what I've got.

Anything high reps with leg-extensions and front-squats? 2 times per week? I think you know what works best for your body and do that. You have the experience.

I have naturally frail bones. So my quads/hams lookg good, as do my biceps and triceps. But my forearms and calves get no development. After the innitial newbgain on my calves it stopped. I EASILY gain strength on my calves (not my grip, though), I graduated from the standing calf raise machine after 2 weeks. But no mass. So I look like I skip legday in shorts covering my quads. I haven't started isolating my calves and working only them until recently, so they may catch up. But I'm afraid they're all strength and no size.

I generally like my "frail" bones, for the shape it gives me. But I do wish I had more potential for calves and forearms.

Been doing OH EZ curls as my primary forearm building exercise at the end of my current pull routine. Last week had to start using the next hole on my watch strap :)

Fedorra/Cringe thread worthy?

Does masterbation count as a work out? If you alternate between hands your working on muscles on both arms. :dunce:
