Would really appreciate some critique on this, although the tracklist doesn't really suggest it i'm a huge fan of yunx so i like to try and get some nice long blends going on. Sometimes i think i hold the mix for too long and it actually detracts from the impact of the incoming song (especially if you mix over the first drop etc) and makes everything a bit...boring. I dunno, be good to hear some thoughts. cheers

Hey, anyone give me tips on mixing with vinyl? I think I've got the core idea down (still can't beat match for shit though) and probably heard all the tips under the sun but any input from you guys would be awesome.

practice practice practice practice !

when you're touching the platter to speed up or slow down a bit do it very gently, ideally you wont do this at all, but it's inevitable really.

use technics.

try keep your vinyl clean. (this avoids dust collecting under the needle when playing)

'see' the music... I'm sure you know, but you can tell what's coming, and what's where by looking at the shades of black on the vinyl. Obviously knowing your tunes trumps this ten fold though.

dont get pissed off! If you can't beat match dont be suprised, it can take a while, but once you get it it's easy...

once you've cued your record, let them play together for a while and eventually (presuming they're not beatmatched already) one will lag behind or steam infront of the other... this means you need to change the pitch on the cue track accordingly. So change the pitch and re-cue as necessary!
