Any suggestions on sweet and not so hot chilis? Pequins look too small for salad purposes, something fruity like Scotch Bonnets but without the nuclear power

haven't grown chillis for yonks, but a good tip with your crop is to freeze them! Obviously not the entire crop, there'll be a stage where you can pick as you use, but freeze the bulk of them and chop up frozen when required down the line and straight into your pan/wok/whatever. I haven't bought chillis for about 2 years and still got a few left

Yeah but if you've got a bush surely that's not necessary? I only use seasonal stuff now, freezing vegetables has become antithetical to my way of life for various reasons. I'd actually avoid freezing meat and fish if I could get away with it, unfortunately it's hard to buy either in small quantities (but not impossible, though the meat is expensive and the fish is pot luck).

Hell yes! Moving into a new flat in August which has a garden with grass n everthing.

Needs a good clear out first as the last tenants haven't really done anything too it but then I'm going to start growing some stuff. Is it even worth planting anything this late in the year or will it just die in the winter?

Thinking tomatoes, strawberries, sweat peas, carrots, potatoes, various herbs, garlic. Plus some decorative nice looking flowers.

Im so fucking pissed I didnt pick up a pallet i saw last night. I was going to get two and cut them up and make a bench but that idea is even better

Suggestions for a herb box that would do well in partial shade? Anyone?
Was thinking of adding something like lavender aswell for abit of colour but I cant really decide.

Na it's not as relentless as mint, mint is fucking horrid, worse than most weeds! Just try to keep the Lav a reasonable size, if you let it get too big it'll just mature then when you cut it back it'll look silly (thats if you leave it too long). A little trim every year is plenty.

Nice thing to grow though, when mine flowers I cut the stems and whack em in the kitchen/bathrooms for the smell

You can also make tea out of them, put them in the bath, or put them in oil etc for food or massages!
