Word and I mean, hardcore's been derided as 'simple and talentless', but if there's a reason for dubstep or techno producers to do some crazy shit, why not straight up hardcore producers?pkay wrote:can't stand that some people think gabber or hardcore is a dirty word
It's the same musical theory involved in techno which is generally adored here and the same speed and gabber/hardcore neighborness as breakcore which is also adored here.
For me the appeal with teaming up with mindsaw and getting knee deep in skullstep was fulfilling my primal need to hear drum edits. Dubstep and 99.99999% of drum and bass is literally two step with a fill now and then. The appeal of those genreas is the drone or the sway involved.... for me I still get that in skullstep/technoid tunes. I know it sounds ass backwards but a lot of the people really into skullstep/technoid seem to be those big on minimal techno. The nuiances are there, in the same way you might appreciate cymbal and fill edits in minimal you really appreciate your drum edits in skullstep.
Dunno guess i see it as the some of all its parts. But to each their own
Tbh, technicalness isn't the end all be all for me, but some of the most insanaly technical edm is in the hardcore-hard dnb spectrum. AND THE MIXDOWNS. They're fucking hard and clean without being on some clinical neuro/Noisia shit. Case in point: The Outside Agency.
