How do you stomach an 89 year old pensioner getting his barber shop looted. Wtf is wrong with people?

but dude they had to get their point across right?
They are idiots, and I don't think many would have sympathy for the people that did that or loads of the other stuff.

But you must see that it has made the government and police take notice- the Police have already started a review and have apologised for their treatment to the family of the man they shot. And questions are being asked- why are the riots/looting happening in all of the poorest areas? It just depends on your political leanings if you think the answer is more government power and punishment, or looking into why this happens in poorer areas and looking for more equality in society. This sort of stuff does change things.

These events reaffirm the populace's belief that if we are truly not happy about something, then we can quickly start tearing shit up and make a real point. Noone remembers some pussy who campaigned with a little banner. Everyone remembers that guy who threw a fucking fire extinguisher off the roof during the student riots though. Get my point?
That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

I'm sure in 20 years they'll be building monuments to dumbass who through fire extinguisher. When people visit England it will be a landmark tourists will come visit. There will be a small portion of a stone building with a student hurling a fire extinguisher.... the plaque will read "in the early 21st century during a student riot this guy through a fire extinguisher off a roof"

are you fucking joking? No ones going to remember that dumbass

History remembers those who brought about actual change.... and change is never done the easy way. If a riot actually changed anything in the government, people would riot daily. It doesn't. History remembers those who took the hard route. Those who suffered for what they believe in. The civil rights marches, Tianeman square, Iranian Revolution, The Monday Demonstrations, history remembers this... not fire extinguisher guy.
you're normally better than this

Brixton riots, Toxteth riots, Hulme riots, Miner's marches and subsequent clashes with police, Poll Tax riots - ALL had significant repercussions

this is the civil unrest OUR, British parents experienced in the 80's, claiming it 'changes nothing' is just as naive and stupid, discounting any effect whatsoever from these riots before they're over and before any assessment of the potential results shows you up as arguing from a purely theoretical point of view, and makes it look like you have no insight into our society and culture (which i know you do, and is why im saying its dumb...)

WE remember those events, just as WE will remember these... dont rabbit on about what history remembers if you just showed you had no idea about what our history is

apologies if someone or yourself already addressed this i didn't read the whole thread yet

The people doing this arent doing it for political reasons, theyre just a bunch of stupid and misguided kids, doing all this wont change anything and thats why its pointless.

Violent protests have changed lots of things even just in recent UK history.

Isn't it political reason enough that it's happening in all of the poorest areas? They might not be doing it because they don't like conservatives but they are doing it for some reason. All very well you saying you'd never loot or riot, that is you in whatever position you are in. Why aren't rich people looting and rioting in Kensington? There is obviously something going on for all of these people to be doing this- even if it is just down to boredom there are lessons there aren't there?

no one is saying the looters are trying to get a 'point' across....they're just wreckless opportunists who want to get rowdy and steal some shit cos it's generally what they know, and how they're expected to behave...

Its the 'spectators' that are correlating what these people are doing with the politics behind classes and general social unrest. From what i've seen the majority of these people dont knowingly have a political agenda but they're still part of a larger political unfolding one way or another. This isnt like the 26th march protests where there was a WIDE variety of people from all walks of life who had reason to protest, this is just a specific section of people.

From another forum:

"The Bullring in Birmingham has closed an hour and a half early due to advice from the West Midlands Police amid fears of potential riots."
"I've just received a text off somebody I work with saying Foot Locker in the Pallasades has been trashed."

Bristol has far too many anarchists (deluded or not) for it not to start up here sometime soon. See bare 'Esoteric Awakening', '11/11 Financial Collapse', 'Beginning of the start' tags all over, they'll jump on this.

you have a job. shuttup about unemployment.

also, quality of life-wise, you'd be MUCH better of living in a lot of places instead of living in britain

comparing the first world to the third in terms of quality of life is the argument of a five year old

rebellion is almost an alien concept in american society it seems...

unless ofcourse you went to Vans Warped Tour or something... OOOO EDGY
