Hummer is definitely one of my favourite Smashing Pumpkins tunes

Wu-Tang Forever
Did NOT need to be two discs.

Same goes for pretty much any 2-disc hip hop album. All Eyez On Me and Life After Death included. Wu-Tang Forever fares better than most of them though, I reckon only UGK - Underground Kings is in its league as far as killer/filler ratio on a double disc

Double Discs used to count twice for RIAA/SoundScan... was a surefire way of getting a #1 album for quite a while.
But Forever's always been considered disappointing, hasn't it? Big lead single, but not much other hype... especially compared to 36 Chambers, Liquid Swords, Tical, Cuban Linx etc...

MYLO - Destroy Rock & Roll
Was touted as 'saviour of British dance music' by Mixmag & The Guardian. Was actually a collection of half arsed proto electrohouse tracks with shite 80s tastic samples over the top.

Morning Glory
American Idiot
Pet Sounds
The Wall
Anything by the Beatles.
Never Mind the Bollocks
Hotel California
Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust
All Eyez on Me.
Any Stones album (nothing against their singles)
Enter the Wu- Tang
and probably everything in the top 10 for the last 5 years.
I feel like I'm missing something, it will come to me later.

this I can agree with. In that sense, Burial isn't even in my top 5 I think as far as "evoking emotion" goes. I always considered it more a fresh look on garage from a guy who deffo pursued his own style. His ambient tunes are perhaps more fitting of that "emotional" label but aren't unique in any way.
But I don't know, people who are in this category of music, you know, presenting a new edge (and in '05 / '06 this was deffo a new angle) and also put some melodic (emotional if you will) quality in their music, people start to 'relate' to it on obnoxious levels. And that in turn gets you the overrated tag much quicker, as a sort of anti-movement.
I can understand people calling Burial overrated. But for me personally, I draw a line throughout an artists entire discography and base your judgement on that average and for me, that line is still very high (I loved the last EP, much more than Street Halo which was boring I agree). So I don't consider myself overrating him but now I'm thinking, in the broad sense, he is probably overrated. I know where to place his music in my collection. He won't be at number one, but he's up there for sure.
Omg this is so true Burial writes some brilliant music but a lot of people are SOOO up his arsehole sometimes it saddens me. I mean ye like the guy, but other artists are capable of writing tunes with emotional value as well! This has restored my faith in humanity!

If a post about Burial on a music forum on the internet has restored your faith in humainity your faith in humanity isn't worth very much now is it

Off topic, but this was the last small thing that restored my faith in humanity:
Watch it to the end, seriously. You won't be disappointed.

I think the songs on Enter the Wu- Tang all sound very similar, are all about the same stuff and are lyrically and... umm... flowily? inferior to any late Wu or solo Wu stuff. The album is seen as some sort of hip hop bible and it's just not that great.
Solo Method Man does a steamy poo on Enter the Wu- Tang.

Nah man, you're taking it out of the context of the time. Sure, the beats and lyrics are similar, but at the time it was like nothing else in hip hop and it blew people's minds. It might not equal Cuban Linx or Liquid Swords in quality, but it's importance to hip hop culture means you can never call it overrated.

I honestly think it's just as good as Liquid Swords and Cuban Linx.
