Will have to listen to Lambeth to refresh my memory about which track that is (can't put the names to the unreleased burial tunes), and yeah, Stolen Dog was easily the best track on the Street Halo EP.
To me, those sort of tracks are still the ones that he does better than the hundreds of artists that are heavily influenced by him.

I think Stolen Dog is not bad, it's only the vocal I have problems with. I don't mind if Burial makes upbeat tracks (Raver, Loner, NYC...) so it has nothing to do with the atmosphere. My disliking really comes simply from the tone in the vocals and there also being too much of them. That third sample seems to be edging that way as well.
But it's all good, that's the advantage of the lengthier track/ mixtape format, there are parts that are enjoyable for everyone.

Check the boomkat link for a third sample of a different track maybe? (its the second sample 02) or maybe its a sample of another section

Full-length preview on bleep now
Definitely the messiest release by Burial yet. Great little segments of tracks, that instead of being developed, were just segued together with a bit of vinyl crackle/noise/pure fucking silence between them, especially on the first tune. I like the whole mixtape thing, but why not just have them as separate tracks? I know he gives Kode9 little segments so he can pick them and develop them further, but in this case, it's more like Kode9 just said "fuck it" and put them all in a single tune, without bothering about a little thing called structure.
I dunno, some may like that, but I just kinda wish they developed naturally rather than being forced to co-exist on a single track/side of wax. Great music though, even if you do only get to hear a minute of it before it turns into something completely different.

Lol at the cowbells in the second track. Uneventful record, good bass though. Glad I didn't pre-order. Digital will suffice for this one.

Yeah it does kind of sound like he took the same structure from Ashtray Wasp and used it on this one,but for me its great because Ashtray Wasp is my favorite Burial tune by quite a bit b/c its like getting a variety pack instead of the same old flavor for 11 minutes...love it!

This. Don't really understand this release yet we still have only 35 seconds of Feral Witchchild. This release is nowhere near the likes of that and Speedball 2.

I’ve said it 99 times in as many posts, and I’ll say it again.
Kode 9 is a troll.

I'm pretty interested as to what you mean by that. Do you seriously think he's taking the piss in terms of Hyperdub releases? Is he trying to make a mockery out of the Burial evangelists by releasing his supposedly bad stuff and watching as they eat it up? I haven't heard these tunes, I wouldn't know their quality, but I liked Kindred. Would he seriously do that with his most popular artist by a mile? In what ways is he a troll? In terms of EVERYTHING? His own releases too? Or do you just call him a troll because we don't have Feral Witchchild yet? Seriously, I'm intrigued.

Agree with the second part, not with the first.
1) the bass is Burial at his best probably since the first album. Heavy bass on this record for sure
2) The record sounds 'clean' for Burial standards: yes there is crackle and needle skipping and what have you.
3) I like the mixtape format as I said ealier. Both sides have about 2/3 tracks worth of material in them. Someone will undoubtedly find one part they like that way.
4) I'm perfectly good with the older bits not getting a release. Part of the old way, part of tradition be that sentimalism or hipster mentality or whatever, I'm cool with that (the mixes are great in their own right).
5) I still agree that the record is quite uneventful and Burial at his least 'dramatic' and 'colourful' to date. I don't understand when boomkat says this is the farthest he's gone AWAY from the dance floor, I think the complete opposite.
6) I still think in the grand scheme of things, this is a good record, but not an award winner and clearly wouldn't even make my top 10 (then again, only listened to the preview two times). Kindred EP was an instant winner for me, could be this is more of a grower (middle section of Truant was pretty good, Rough Sleeper didn't do much for me all the way up to the ending part).
