i doubt its intentional as its not audible on the bleep mp3s. its very, very noticeable.

ah right ignore me then, i thought teknics was just talking about some of the hiss of the reverbed samples

I'm pretty sure that the refrain to "Near Dark" runs, "I can see why I love you"
review is ok, but some people seriously cannot get lyrics right.

Best track on the album by a very very very long way. I only listened to it once and didn't listen again until this little bugger poped into my head the other day after about a week or so. Gotta be a good track to do that.

This is actually pretty good
There's nothing on Untrue that's likely to work in the dance club

why does everybody claim that burial can't work on the dancefloor? the whole album seems way more dance friendly than the first. i've played "ghost hardware" in a house/brokenbeat set and the crowd kept dancing without missing a beat.

Very interesting that the author of the pitchfork review compares the album to Luomo's "Vocalcity". I actually had the same association myself not too long ago.

Just to clarify, the crackle is fully intentional, and indeed sounds lovely, no matter its ultimate intention:
B: "So I had no choice but to put the crackle on it and get away with it."

Ive sort of worked out a story in this album, the start seems like its about someone falling in love, the middle seems to be about him fucking it all up, and then it seems to be about him sorting himself out all for the girl he fell in love with (Untrue seems to be about this, especially the 'Girlfriend' sample), the end I cant really connect with a story to be honest, but it does deffo seem like that to me.
Its an amazing album, gave it 5 proper listens this week, just immense.
I know a lot of people have spoke about the last minute of 'Shell Of Light', its just absolutely incredible, gave me shivers when I heard it, the tears were welling up. To me, it sounds like some sort of message, some sort of cry out that music doesnt have to be formulaic shit, that it can be heart breaking, that it can be beautiful. Im waffling on like I always do about Burial now, but seriously, how could anyone who likes music not like this?
I will not trust anyone who claims to like music in any form yet doesnt like this, ANYONE

The last post didn't really do the interview/method justice...
B: Pirate radio crackle, vinyl crackle – I like. But most of all I like rain. Fire. I’ve got recordings of rain and fire crackle that would put most electronica producers to shame they’re so fucking heavy. That crackle sits over my drums, hides the space between them. When I started making music I could see through it and I was disappointed because it destroyed the mystery for a bit. But when I chuck crackle over it, it hides it under layers, it’s no longer mine. And you get a feel of a real environment.
