I am in no way a fan of authoritarian government (unless it's being authoritarian against the right people) but seriously, less "government" (meaning public spending of money on things which should pretty much be guaranteed to everyone based on that whole "right to a decent standard of living" we all supposedly have), just means unrestricted capitalism, more freedom for those upstairs, and a lot less for the rest of us.

I know it's not quite the same thing, but look at what neoliberalism did to south america, the states and the uk under old ironsnatch, in fact her legacy is being carried on as we start to see the old nationalised services being dismantled. This ideology that we are all 100% responsible for ourselves is what is going to lead to the NHS being dismantled, public services being privatised and ultimately worse inequality than we have now.

Socialist rant over, but rather boris than a libertarian
Yeah, the idea of someone wiping your ass is nice. When they tell you when you can take a shit, thats what gets my goat.

Nigh on Socialism. I'm pro-being responsible for yourself and wanting government for defense, roads/infrastructure/emergency and natural disaster.

If you need help, thats what family/charity are for. We are not your mom, go clean your own damn mess.

In a perfect world we wouldn't need government. Now I'm all for that

Labour have been royally fucked over.

If the Conservatives win London, there's every chance they're going to call a general election and it'll be Bye Bye Brown

i couldn't vote as I left my balloting paper at my family home and I don't go back there for another week, and I wouldn't have got back there to give it in on time due to work...first thing I could have legally voted for as well :(..

Funny tho, as I see it many ppl have stopped backing labour coz of their more conservative like policies...and instead ppl are now backing the torries!

prime example is the 10p tax controvesy, really bad move and something I would expect a Tory goverment to have come up with, a toryesque move. It has lost the labour goverment a lot of support, but this support seems to have gone to the tories, who have always supported such policies that favor the wealthy and disadvantaged.

Then again, if the Conservatives win london and Boris ruins the city (which he would) then it might go the other way...

He'd have to work hard to ruin it IMO. Even just carrying on with how it's been run under Livingstone would be sufficient.

Unless he goes ape shit and abolishes the Oyster card or something, it'd be a tough call.

Ruin might be a harsh word. But he has certainly been shown to be incompetent in the past so there no reason why that should stop now. Here's hoping he doesnt get in anyway.....

IMO he's a Big Brother politician. His media image far outshadows his policies. I blame George Fucking Gallaway pretending to be a cat.

I know. It really is a shame because Respects policies are spot on IMO. Another reason why there shouldn't be party leaders, its a massive distraction from whats important.

The Tories couldn't call a general election (thank God). The date is set by the Government, unless they lose a vote of no confidence in the Commons...

Who would go about calling a vote of no conference?

Please please please dont be Boris. I don't care how bad people think Ken has been. He's a lot better than the alternative.
