Dr. Dean Ornish wants you to live longer, and have more fun while you’re at it. He's one of the leading voices in the medical community promoting a balanced, holistic approach to health, and proving that it works. The author of Eat More, Weigh Less and several other best-selling books, Ornish is best known for his lifestyle-based approach to fighting heart disease.

His research at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute (the nonprofit he founded) clinically demonstrated that cardiovascular illnesses -- and, most recently prostate cancer -- can be treated and even reversed through diet and exercise. These findings (once thought to be physiologically implausible) have been widely chronicled in the US media, including Newsweek, for which Ornish writes a column. The fifty-something physician, who's received many honors and awards, was chosen by LIFE Magazine as one of the most influential members of his generation. Among his many pursuits, Ornish is now working with food corporations to help stop America's obesity pandemic from spreading around the globe.

"Instead of trying to motivate [patients] with the 'fear of dying,' Ornish reframes the issue. He inspires a new vision of the 'joy of living' -- convincing them they can feel better, not just live longer."

parson, if you're so open minded to new ideas etc. - why do you have such a hard time accepting other people's views? or at least listening to them? :?

this thread was started by somebody calling pot heads pathetic.

pot is actually extremely good for your brain

what is pathetic is people parroting government propaganda in the face of scientific evidence of it being lies designed to keep you dumb

you've missed my point entirely. i'm not talking about this particular discussion, it just strikes me as strange that for someone who claims to be open to new ideas, you seem to have a hard time dealing with those ideas if they aren't the same as yours, and frankly that strikes me as a little immature - you need to accept that if you are making claims as bold as the ones you put out to us, not everyone is going to accept them, deal with it, rather than lashing out.

apologies for slightly crap wording there, but do you get what i mean?

individual testimony isn't even necessary though. if anything it's just going to make others say pot has made their friends dumb or whatever.

a lot of potheads are dumb but if you're dumb it is not because of pot.

thing about the weed convo is the ideas that he's shooting down are not new and have been discussed and shot down by many people over many years.

i mean it could be possible that i'm a more interesting topic than new information proving that pot is good for you, but i'm inclined to think the latter is more interesting.

i read the info that you present fairly regularly parson, and in case you haven't noticed, i rarely challenge you on it as if you want to hold those views you are perfectly within your rights to; however i do challenge you on your character as you frequently resort to patronising everyone, name calling - which is frankly both irritating and rude.
