har har har, i might get it now, basically, my mum teaches the sibling of one of the kids at my brother's school (the one that was closed today)who has it, she was apparantly hugging her and that last week, and now this kid is off school as well, nice burn

You do realize that the strain of avian flu labeled H5N1 is still a very real threat, right?
The government actually did not overreact with that one. H5N1 is one of the most deadly strains of influenza with a mortality rate at nearly 60%.
The reason H5N1 never went pandemic is because it does not transfer from human to human yet, but viruses mutate unpredictably.
H5N1 is still a very real threat because if it does ever gain the ability for human to human transmission then things would get serious very quickly.
Swine flu pales in comparison to avian flu and has almost blown over in a week.

we had once 1000 cases of VD just in my block (don't smile, i was a virgin back then!) but i saw no alarm!
