I guess you're either wrong or confusing "better music" with "music I like".ehbrums1 wrote:I'm pretty sure there are people on here that do..
What is fact but just an opinion held by so many that it becomes perceived as true, If everyone in the world held the idea that say Mala is better than skrillex than wouldn't it then become fact?e-motion wrote:I guess you're either wrong or confusing "better music" with "music I like".ehbrums1 wrote:I'm pretty sure there are people on here that do..
Actually, to be perfectly honest, yes, his music was a part of it, but he'd never be where he is today without Deadmau5. He knew Deadmau5, and Deadmau5 signed him to Mau5trap, which is a label with a lot of commercial power.e-motion wrote:It's not about popularity. He earned that popularity by himself, with his music, not by having a six-pack or a OH BABY face. People didn't make music for him to sell it out. So there must be something about his music...

But still, he's the most successful on mau5trap nowadays. So I guess he deserved that spot.Sonika wrote:Actually, to be perfectly honest, yes, his music was a part of it, but he'd never be where he is today without Deadmau5. And he's not a better producer than artists like Icicle or Kryptic Minds. And no, that's not judging from the "music-I-like" scale, that's based purely upon the actual technical quality of the production.
Yes we are musicians, so if you want me to analyze the music behind Skrillex's tunes, and tell you why artists like Silkie are infinitely better musicians than he is, I'd be glad to.e-motion wrote:But still, he's the most successful on mau5trap nowadays. About production-technical-quality, I can't comment on that. Skrillex can do things that Icicle or Kryptic Mind's can't, but the opposite is also true. Also, Skrillex is still inexperienced, he still has much to learn, but what he made with the little time he had to learn, well, I think we can say he has talent.
Also, we are musicians, not technicians.

More complex is not the same as better. SMNS intro melody isn't that complex, actually it's pretty random, but it does transmit a feeling and has "the hook". This goes way beyond scales, chords or anything that you learn in music school. Yes it probably was luck... but he nailed it. And that intro (along with Cinema drop, which, imo, is arranged perfectly) is the reason why he won the 3 grammys.Sonika wrote:Yes we are musicians, so if you want me to analyze the music behind Skrillex's tunes, and tell you why artists like Silkie are infinitely better musicians than he is, I'd be glad to.
I'm not even commenting on the "they can but they don't do because they are hispters" because I also can make Noisias Reeces but I prefer doing woobles with my mouth because it's much more refined. That doesn't make sense. Even I can make things thay Icicle or Kryptic Minds or Skrillex can't do.Sonika wrote:Also, correction: Skrillex does things that Icicle and Kryptic Minds don't. It's not that they can't, it's rather that they choose not to because they go for a much more refined sound than he does.
That was sarcasm, I'm just saying each one has his tallents, his skills, his sound. Even other top producers with their unique skills can recognize skill in other peoples work, even if they don't like it. Burial has different vocal editting skills, none of both is better but I'm pretty sure neither of them can make something like the other.Sonika wrote:Okay, I can't resist it...really?
So let me get this straight, if you choose not to sound like Skrillex, you're a hipster??? I must be misunderstanding, please explain.
Also, you want an example of someone who does the same vocal editing stuff as Skrillex? Burial.
And please, do tell, what can you do that Icicle and Kryptic Minds can't?
Edit: his melodies are generally incredibly simple and musically, nothing very special.
