it is possible to make an extract using butane as a solvent

this extract can be smoked but also put into gel caps and swallowed

its not her illness that is making everyone miserable, she has been doing that for years, she is just getting meaner now hehe

i called her the other day and she was pretty rude to me on the phone, made it clear she couldn't be bothered to talk to me lol

So it's ok for you to forcibly change her personality?

I'm being a little bit jokey, but honestly, I'd be PISSED if someone, especially a family member snuck recreational drugs into my diet because they thought they might stop me being so unpleasant whilst I was busy trying to die with a shred of dignity in tact. Do you really want to offend a woman who knows she's on her way out? What if she lost trust in her family? What if she's being unpleasant because she already feels like a nuisance? She'd be much more unpleasant to deal with then...

I can't believe you're even considering it, tbh. This is Jeremy Kyle shit.

its not to make her less unpleasant it's to make her feel better and help her appetite

you call it recreational drugs, thats fine, but there are a lot of people (especially cancer patients like her) who call it medicine

she is also very opposed to blood transfusions and would refuse one even if her life depended on it, due to her religious beliefs. If she was in an accident and would die if she did not have a blood transfusion, would it be wrong then to force her to have one? Or would it be better to let her die just because her fucked up beliefs won't let her do what she has to do to stay alive?

I know i have been joking about this situation a bit but you are being quite judgmental. It is not as simple as you are making it out to be. But I suppose it was dumb of me to bring it up on this forum.

Wherever possible, it should be the individual's choice how their life is lived and lost. In the same way I wouldn't force my baby brother into Islam without asking him, I wouldn't prolong my Grandmother's life if she wanted to shuffle off the mortal coil... and I certainly wouldn't give her drugs or procedures that she'd explicitly said she didn't want - disrespectful much?!

It's her body. Her brain. Her life. Her choice.

Not yours, the government's or anyone elses.

Hers.

Yeah man, its her life not yours.

You might think its fucked up, she probably has her reasons.

If she doesn't want drugs she doesn't want drugs. By all means talk to her, but shit, don't drug her without consent.

The reason for the blood transfusion thing is that the bible says you're not supposed to ingest the blood of another living creature or something like that.. Is that a good reason in your opinion?

No, it's not a reason that I'd refuse a blood transfusion for myself. But then, I'm not a Christian and as such I've got no idea what it would be like to believe that. I've even less idea what it'd be like to believe that and then be betrayed by my family who decided they'd prolong my almost-done life by an extra couple of months by sending me to Hell for eternity.

She can believe whatever she wants to believe and she can die however she wants to die. That's her right as a human being.

That's true for someone who is relatively free thinking.

But what if we are talking about someone who was indoctrinated into something their whole life to the point where they stopped thinking for themselves years ago, do you really think that is what they truly want?

she probably has no idea what she really wants. It has probably not occurred to her to ask herself.

Whether she has been 'indoctrinated' or not, its still immoral to use deception to impose your will on soneone regardless of whether or not you feel it'd be in their interest

I didn't mean to come off as implying you didn't mate - I'm sure you've got her best interests at heart; I'd probably be phoning the authorities rather than replying to you if I didn't! :w:

imami wrote:But what if we are talking about someone who was indoctrinated into something their whole life to the point where they stopped thinking for themselves years ago, do you really think that is what they truly want?

she probably has no idea what she really wants. It has probably not occurred to her to ask herself.
The meanings of happiness and contentment are vastly different for all of us - for example, if someone spent their entire life an extremely pious Christian, shunning all forms of sin and keeping themselves away from what the rest of the world thought was fun do you think they'd appreciate the opposite being proven to them on their deathbed? I think they'd be more comfortable dying believing they lived well rather than that they'd wasted their chances for fun.

However we all choose to live our lives is entirely up to us, that's why we call it living our own life - you can't just assume that because someone has a different belief set to you that you can ignore their views, especially when they're old and set in their ways. What if your Grandmother discovered you'd been giving her dope after a doctor mentioned it after a blood test? I remember how easy mine was to offend at that stage of life - dying comes to us all, but it's the most difficult thing we'll ever have to come to terms with... some of us never do... lots of people go through 10, 20 or 30 years of being an absolute nightmare to everyone around because they realise the only thing left to do is die - would you want your family to start overriding your decision making skills when you're battling to come to terms with the most terrifying thing to ever happen in your life?

Religious views tend to get stronger as people get towards death. It's not really surprising. We can't change death. We can't not die. But we can set up our brains to deal with it. If you were brought up religious, you'd probably find yourself leaning on that religion for some support. Maybe she could be more physically comfortable for a few months with dope - but perhaps she'd be emotionally crippled because of the battle within her religiously leaning psyche. Surely it's best to let her decide how to be happy rather than trying to reprogram a Commodore 64 to run the latest build of Android?

There's an old Irish song called Moonshiner (Bob Dylan did a lovely version) which sums it up perfectly for me:

Give me bread when I'm hungry
Give me whisky when I'm dry
Give me dollars when I'm hard up
Religion when I die...

That she's a nuisance should be the least of your concern. One day you will be too. How would you want your kids and grandkids to deal with it?

I may not spawn any offspring in this lifetime.. Too many humans as it is.

Anyway you guys make some good points and have given me things to think about. It's such a complicated issue.

I think i get more pragmatic about things as i get older and that can be a bad thing
