Now I'm really fucking annoyed cos I can't think of that tu
ne which samples that line :(

EDIT - Ah I've got it, Unkle - Rabbit In Your Headlights
and distance - free me

I liked that Hydra tune on Warrior Dubz, and that's about it. I've tried liking him, but it's just all a bit too tearout.

saw some ninja's posting about this film saying it was sketchy as fuck, so i decided to watch it. Have to agree with you guy's it did scare the shit outta me...especially those head banging demons. The movie is very confusing but after the end scene it's pretty apparent what's going on, here's my attempt of an explanation so if you dont want the movie spoiled don't read on.

The important question is obviously how it is that Jacob can be living two lives and when these things even happened to him, if they did at all. At the end of the film we find out that he has actually died in a hospital right after he was killed in Vietnam, so did he actually live that life with Jezebel? I think not, but the point is that we are presented with a picture of Jacob's journey to the afterlife as he holds on to his real life. His dead son (angel?) wants him to let go and join him in heaven but Jacob holds on a bit too long, and at first he fails to make his peace with what has happened in his life (death of his son, war, any number of other things). Because of this he is haunted by demons, etc. until he finally makes his peace and lets go of his life shown in the symbolic scene of him and his son walking up the stairs.

Of course there is also the issue of "The Ladder", the drug placed in the food supply of Jacob's squadron. This concept ties the movie together and gives more relevance to Jacob's mania, nightmares, spiritual journey or what have you. The movie takes us between two worlds: a spiritual world, and a real one, and Jacob's Ladder represents his journey to freeing his soul and making his peace. hopefully this makes sense to the people that watched the movie and don't get it.
I prefer the alternate ending tbh. it doesn't have the staircase walk etc at the end, he's in that blue house and scream who are you then jezzy appears saying @I've been waiting for you jake' and walks forward and then has a cloth on her head then he pulls the cloth off and it's him underneath, smiling .

Your explanation is pretty much spot on. I found the ending made the film too straightforward though. Basically that one quote sums the entire plot up.

'If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. If you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth. '
damn, im gonna have to look that up.

here are th eother two deleted scenes as well.

CHEERS for posting those man, that film is one of the best things ever. can't wait to listen to all those tunes you sent me on real SPEAKERS either, tiny netbook + bassy music = :(

I've got a few more for you I think. Been averaging at like a new tune every other day.

also, your shoddy listening equipment makes me do a hearty laugh. (Think Brian Blessed)

John Hurt once again totally steals the film and blows other actors away.

Childs Play 2. I'm not sure why, but being stuck in with no money on a Friday night can strange things to a man.

saw avatar 3d at the imax last night.

kinda avoided reading/watching too much of the hype cos it always seems too much. went in just expecting some nice visuals but was glad there were some deeper underlying meaning/focus. not too shallow to be just another visual blockbuster but not too deep in its own ass either. noticed alot of people keeping there glasses on longer to cover the tears :D

but yeah, very good film, even better at the imax.

i kinda see it as the 180 flip to other blockbuster films like 2012. with that it was just style, hardly any real substance, the substance it had was just raped and dispalyed as nonsense--disinformation/dellusional etc but avatar actualy kinda had real honest undertones. futuristic tribe showcasing the character of our ancient selves.

liked the kecak dance/chant reference.

The Road

I read the book two or three years ago after George Monbiot (who is a tnuc, I know) said it was a book that could save the world if enough people read it. Well he was talking out of his arse! The book is shit and full of plot holes as is the film. The kid needs to toughen the fuck up and stop whining, the ungrateful little piece of shit. I really don't get why the book and film are so highly rated? And the visuals and sets, the whole 'feel' of the film is lifted straight from the computer game Fall Out 3.

Load of bollocks. Avoid like the plague.

Best bit in it was seeing Omar Little.

just got back from watching avatar in 3D. was pretty damn sick, the scene with the ash falling down from the sky was really something else....almost felt like it was in the room with you .

mel gibson may be a dick, but he directed a gem right there.
