For the fourth release on Surface Tension Recordings, Toronto's XI steps up with the Atmospheric Pressure EP. These four tunes are hitting right at the seismic center of the techno/dubstep/garage collision, doling out in equal measure the shuffle of garage, the space and depth of techno, and the bottom end of dubstep.

Starting with the alien synth in 'Dreaming Void', the funky, slightly-out-of-time rhythm combined with the sultry horns will leave less sure-footed skankers slack jawed. Up-tempo GarageTechnoStep speaker damage time.

Further down the worm hole you'll find a second Slice of Heaven in a tune called "Drip", with its bass-driven techno underpinnings, combined with classic 2-step garage vibes. Bare dance floor vibes all around.

"Trinary" is an exercise in precision bass detonation. With its hovering bassline, combined with a shaky rhythm and floating synth stabs, this one hits the sweet spot.

"Ethereal Plus" brings zenlike smooth, dubby warmth preceding the funky future tech vibe that gradually builds to a driving exercise in guided bass meditation--leaving you refreshed in this fitting close to an expansive series of tunes.

This release see’s Sub Slayers continue its mission to fuse Breakbeat, Dubstep and all manner of musical influences to push ting’s dem forward. Twinkle is one of the tunes that you just can’t stop yourself dancing too, it’s one of those that yanks the wall flowers on the floor. Girls and boys alike have been feeling its infectious lyrics over the last year in the sets of Jay, Gella and a select few – now its getting released! Twinkle is all about bashment, breaks, twists, vocal hooks and the all important VIBE – this tunes has got it all! Not content with supplying us the original, but Gella’s also given us a Dubstep version entitled the Nails mix!

On the remix tip we have been very self-indulgent! Jay managed to recruit all of his top genre defining buddy’s from 2009. First up Pyramid give us a king of the rollers, jungle style Breakbeat mix – the bassline has to be heard to be believed. Schema, Sub Slayers latest signing, pulls of a killa Dubstep remix – no holds barred, this ones for the bass heads! Affinity gets his mits on Twinkle after remixing the likes of Deekline & Freestylers to great success, and we have to say this remix is his best!!! Last and by no means least is Pixel Fist, who drop one monster of a Dubstep/Breakbeat crossover track.
