I'm pretty sure i remember reading an interview with zomby not long ago and him saying that we've used up all the flavours but how we mix those flavours into new formats is how this scene moves on (or something along those lines), I think it's completely possible that everything has been explored in terms of innovative structure and sound.
But let's not worry about that, If i hear a tune and think "ok that could have been made 10 years ago, but it still sounds sick", it's still heavy, I think the UK underground scene destroys itself with it's constant strive for progression. Those guys over in Berlin have been rolling techno since like fuckin 1991, whether that's a good or a bad thing, it makes you think. Are we just trying to move too fast to let things actually flower?
I know when im writing music, im not thinking about context in terms of scenes or genres, i'm thinking "i like that element of that sound and this element of this sound, im gunna re-write those elements and mix and match them as i see fit", creativity is in no way tied down. It jus so happens my biggest inspirations are UK Hardcore, Jungle, DnB and Garage
ye i pretty much agree with this.
take a lil bit of this n a lil bit of that mix it together hey presto some new interesting shit. the formula for all musical progression thats been happening since the dawn of whatever
well, i disagree that its completely possible that everything has been explored in terms of innovative structure and sound. thats completely impossible tbh

Not sure, but I know dsf will have some fun arguing. At the moment, I'm tentatively going with Future Spaniel.

130 (CXXX) was a common year starting on Saturday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Catullinus and Aper (or, less frequently, year 883 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 130 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.

to be fair i noped out a while ago.
I found a Beneath track that was really good, and played it as part of my techno set.
I first found Beneath through the 130 ting, but when I posted the track I was promptly told it wasn't techno, or infact 130. I was told it "was more UK Funky tbh".
i couldn't comprehend it and noped the fuck out of that whole thing. i prefer techno m8

so you liked a tune, were told it wasn't what you thought it was and instantly distanced yourself from such music altogether because you couldn't understand why it wasn't what you thought it was? or you just... cared too much about what genre it was instead of how much you liked it?
edit; also man playing 130 in a techno set how dare you!!!

Been rinsing some Beneath lately and realized it would be cool to have some more Funky infused tunes. Recent D&B shows have kinda gravitated towards garage/space grime/breaks over the funky styles. Be a shame to have that side of the sound left behind
