Bracing myself for some flaming here, but how exactly is this different from the early stuff in 2005-ish when the originators were moving away from the 2-step beat to a more minimal dub beat? Is Dungeon a revival or is there something more to it that's completely new that I'm that I'm missing?

I hope so - I strongly believe that people are gonna get bored of that brostep sound and I hope they'll move to the dark stuff from there.
I'm from the USA and I'm in middle school. You'd think that would be the epitome of brostep. But there are actually a lot of kids like me who really dig the original sound.

I'm glad for that - I guess I don't really know much about the general musical mentality in the rest of the US.

A friend in the NYC area has been spotting flyers for what's being called "Deep Dubstep" here and there, and he's been seeing more and more as time goes on, so the traditional sound is gaining momentum on the east coast at least.

The kicker for me is that people who only know Brostep might think "Deep Dubstep" is a new development. haha.

I just hope that they move on to moombahton or some other genre like that and leave dubstep alone tbh

Even if Moombahton becomes the new it thing, there will still be a lingering taint on Dubstep, just look at DnB for evidence.

:edit: I'd argue moombahton is already getting warped as a lot of the tracks I've heard lately with the tag don't even feature the distinguished beat, and are instead just the same electro junk with a K...S...K...S beat played that 108bpm.

Probably not dude. A lot of them are trend hopping kids and when they get bored of brostep they'll move onto something completely different to dubstep.

Yeah, most listeners just listen to whatevers popular. But perhaps those who truly like the brostep they're listening to will, as they listen to more of it, become bored with it and find true dubstep - and possibly love it. I've heard numerous stories of people here in the USA who thought that dubstep was the brostep sound, and then, through something, be it a friend or a club or the Internet, found real dubstep and fell in love with it.

Haha moombahtons already being criticized for selling out/losing the original sound I see.

I wonder what they'll call the brostep of moombahton - moombahbro? Broton? Brobahton? Shit?

Most people that I know who are into brostep just think that the stuff most of us listen to is boring. I understand that you might not be completely blown away if you hear the Goat Stare, but If people get bored with Badman VIP after 10 seconds I honestly doubt that dubstep is the right genre for them.

Yes, it's not for everyone. But there are SOME similarities between brostep and dubstep, and perhaps the things that people like about brostep could translate to dubstep.
True dubstep is a lot more original and diverse, and generally more interesting, so I'm sure that those who are deep into brostep could like it. I know it's happened before, so it could very well happen on a large scale.

Yes, there are those who just think it's boring. But they are only a part of the group of brostep listeners.

But really? Someone thought Badman VIP was boring?
