Naw, I'm looking at this like a kind of slate cleaning.

Though, was listening to an old track on my soundcloud, going, like, okay, yeah do this do that, start this earlier, take that out... and oh yeah, I can't fix all these things I wanted to fix. I was just getting to that place of putting together 5 songs to really push, as my TUNA! ep.

But the future is brighter, much brighter.

I might, MIGHT, have something, I know I just said I'm packing up, and I am, but I put this fat Chinese monoprice cable into my laptop audio jack, and it kind fixed it. Not totally, but enough to fiddle around with it try to get both ears.

So maybe. I just spent 4 hours taking a freaking sound absorber apart. Crazy. Thought it'd be 15 minutes.

feedback for last week:

@ledge>
time: nice work on the foley-ish percussion, though maybe it could do with some more incidentals? liking the texture of that string-like synth(?) but i feel the melody could be more varied, like maybe switch it up at some point. just my 2c tho. tight mixdown, vocals are sitting nicely on top of the rest.

police: great use of that vocal sample! liking the skanky thing you got going on in the beginning and ending, actually i feel you could have gone the dub route and be crazier with the horns sample, using delays and spring reverbs and whatnot. as in the previous, serious mixdown skills, really like the way you make your drums cut through the mix

dunkler: really nice one, though i agree with the others, the mixdown could use some fixing, it sounds to me the drums are too drowned out by the synths. i would suggest having a section playing the same melody as the main string synth but with a lowpassed reece also you could mess with the vocals more, but maybe it's too far down the burila route :p would loveto hear it finished

backdoor: aha not really my cup of tea. i feel like there could be more going on in the higher end of the frequency spectrum, like have some cymbals/hihats to fill it up in there. could be just me tho.

thanks for the feedback guys (and yes nowaysj, please do write and record some rap about interspecies intercourse for my submission, seriously), here's mine:

@yilan: really nice work on the glitches. i feel it gets a bit samey after a while though... maybe you could add another element halfway through, like some pads or something. or maybe make that part where you strip it to the basics a bit longer and then come back with a bang (as opposed to fading the glitches back in as it is now)? idk, just my 2p

@bud: kleen: not overly fond of the vocals. also i feel the trap-ish hi hats could sound more defined, like they feel a bit drowned out in the mix, maybe its just my headphones though. also i feel like you could work a bit on the song structure to give it a sense of progression. like use the vangelis like synth coming in around 1:30 a bit more, or bring those bell like synths you have in the outro a bit earlier.

mosta: i feel you could have a bit more stuff going on during the intro, liking the vocals more on this one. the mixdown sounds a bit muddy to me, but that could be my headphones. i think you could have a second synth to complement the first one (i mean the one that's arpeggiated). also maybe go crazier with the edits on the vocals (meaning the parts where you pitch it up and down and use it as a synth sort of).

staubsteam polka: great work on the percussions, can't point out anything i dislike about this. if you only finish one of the three, i'd say pick this one. imho bbq and all that

@nowaysj: good shit! i feel the vocal sample could stand out more, maybe push it a tad louder or rework your mixdown/EQing? for once i feel that the transition between the different parts doesn't sound too much like you forced two different ideas together, tho i feel the LA/Flylo/whathaveyou vibe that you have in the drums of the first part should have been kept in the second part. maybe i'm justt rambling

really nice lowend feels warm. maybe yeah lower the highend tiny bit or give it more of a back in the room touch
vocals nice i think just those present hi end could distract abit. nice change at 1.32 bassdrum is muddy but in a good way
hm hm very artsy haha but it has an appeal maybe play with what you have even more? and try to give the high end a dif place atleast at some point

like the clap maybe make it bit more present though yeah nice use of those short rim sounds or whatever those are making those mini melody
you could try to resample if you havent already and just check out what the lowend has to offer with those fucked up bassline/melodylines
and add some breaks mini breaks those can add alot especially when a song is so full like this is
but yeah love the sounds you created so far

very dif one for you haha all you guys are so artsy in a good way hm hm hard to tell what your goal is has a lofi sound to it with all those vinyl crackle and other static sounds.
maybe some wierd radio vocals? from russia or china or sth sth to give it another level of wierd
like that those sounds kinda play a melody pattern maybe drop those rides at some point bring them back in
though
