It must be because it has a big picture of an otter on the cover(why i got it), I havent got to that bit yet though.
Simple but enticing. Might crack on with it tonight

I've decided never again to read any of his books. The Night's Dawn trilogy wasn't too bad but the others were just several thousand pages of nothing much in the end.

I like his latest trilogy a bit and it isn't quite as drawn out as his earlier work which is really killing me atm since I still haven't finished Naked God yet.

To be fair, I do quite like most of the bits that take place during the telling of the stories. It's just the endings that are a bit meh.
Just finished reading:

Stupidly good. Amazing world-building and far future ecology. Word of warning: If anyone picks up a copy with an introduction, do not read it. Mine was filled with spoilers.
Currently reading:

Very interesting but can be a bit difficult to get into. It's about the near-future singularity, a point in time where the rate of progress suddenly undergoes an essentially infinite jump. In this case completely linked to computing power. It goes into potential future economic models, which is probably the most difficult part of the book to grasp as they are all very abstract (for me at least).

Don't know if anyone is into math here but this is a gem if you are interested in the history of mathematics.
This is a compilation of essential works of 17 important mathematicians throughout history.
Euclid, Archimedes, Newton, Euler, Gauss, Riemann, Boole, and Cantor to name a few
If you are deeply interested in the mathematics of sound synthesis then the work of Joseph Fourier on trigonometric series should be of interest.

A most brilliant book. About the caste system and treatment of the underclasses in India. Written in a very interesting style.
