Tickets are actually $50 bucks and thats not bad for 8 hours of Bass. 3 rooms 30 DJ's. What more do you want?

Pathetic that Joe Nice and Starkey are the first two acts in the side room with only 45 min each. The only 2 true founding fathers of the US dubstep scene on the line-up and they are the last names on the bill. Then again I was surprised to even see them on the line-up to begin with. Probably won't make the drive out for this anymore. I'm too broke to party in a Casino right now anyway.

Quick question..

How many of you guys would consider this to be brostep, as opposed to "proper" dubstep?

I'd consider it both, I mean they aren't mutually exclusive. Its brostep in style but it's still a good tune

i wouldn't really say its brostep but it's not really very characteristic of "proper" dubstep tune either

eh, emalkay is in a grey area really. some of his old stuff (grimecore vol. 1, testing the waters and ags) is more dubstep, but most of his newer stuff is leaning towards the bro-er side, but still better than most bro out there.

that tune i would say is bro with more dubstep elements, still a good tune though

his old stuff was pretty cool actually, like this one off boka

even "when i look at you" is a guilty pleasure of mine although it's really just the catchy melody, can't really stand the rest

Totally, that fucking melody is insanely catchy. I don't mind Emalkay, nothing I really love, but I can get into him when I'm in the mood. Especially that tune haha

Emalkay - When I Look At You has sick sub. Plus AGS is sick. Absolutely no guilt about liking that release.

When I get some decks and if I'm actually decent (haha, big if) I plan on mixing it up with the odd tear-out track, some roots, dungeon vibes, some of those infamous Coki wobbles. I love Younx but if it weren't for Toast etc I'd grow bored listening over the radio. No disrespect or nothing. When I go to hardcore shows and there's a metalcore band playing breakdown upon breakdown I hate that, too... variation you know? Keep things interesting. :4:

Fabrication by Emalkay is one of the aggro tracks that I like, when I look at you is pretty good but Fabrication is my favorite.

Yeah man. I love the way that bassline creeps in, and then subtly changes all song, and i like when they put in that "drop the bass" sample, and arrange it rhythmically. Fuck i love that song. Haha.

Brostep is more of an attitude than I sound, IMO. On the surface Megalodon or Jakes releases could be considered brostep, but all them have massive amount of subbass and some sort of funk and bounce to them. I associate "brostep" more with fans tbh. Emalkay is decidedly NOT brostep IMO. "Crusader (Levels)", "AGS," and yes, "When I Look At You" are some of my favorite tunes of his. Wicked producer.

Emalkay's sick. The album was a bit hit and miss from what i've heard of it, but his stuff is bangin. Even the newer stuff i didn't like (e.g. Massive) just grew up on me

Mecha is one of my favorite dubstep songs of all time. The bassline just bounces in and out similar to fabrication but it's decidedly more sinister. Emalkay's old stuff like Living Dead, Gut Feeling (insane amounts of bass) is just incredible. His album I agree has some high points and low points. But overall is solid. When I look at you was among the first dubstep songs I ever listened to.

I think to call any of stuff Brostep would be an insult and gross distortion.
