18% is ok for CD, but you should be getting about 80% of digital.

lol Not many labels will give you 80% although one label I have a tune forthcoming on is that generous. It is an anomaly though. 50% is standard. I think 50 is pretty much standard with vinyl too although I haven't released on vinyl so I am not sure.

To the OP, looks like you can get get an upfront payment instead of a percentage. If you are going for it, I would go that route.

Although you retain your rights and have the option of signing the tune with someone else, I think it will be difficult. Saying this as a label owner, I probably would not take the tune on. If say I signed it and then you wanted to license it for this CD, that would be a different story but in that case I would be entitled to half of what you get as per my contract with you. Just something to keep in mind. If you don't think it would get signed anyway, I'd say this is all irrelevant.

Yeah I've signed and posted it this morning.

If I had someone to run it by I would, but I don't. Hence posting on here.

I don't care about the money at all, it was more about making sure that I'm not signing something that will come back and haunt me later on.

All I really care about it the vinyl on my wall!
