And of course, Steve Cloutier. His work on 'Obscura' by Gorguts is breath taking.
Nice one! I still have mine! In fact, I saw Primus a few years ago with the original lineup do a show where they played Frizzle Fry in it's entirety front to back. It was awesome! Herb is such a dope drummer.TeReKeTe wrote:

I guess I haven't really ever heard of these bass players, but I'm not really an extreme metal guy.Genevieve wrote:Oh God yes.Evil Madmen wrote:Mike FloresGenevieve wrote:

The guys that have really inspired me are Paul Jackson, Alphonso Johnson, Jaco, Abe Laboriel and Bootsy among others.
To go deeper, it was cats like Paul Chambers, Ron Carter, Mingus and Ray Brown!
I do play live bass in a lot of my productions but it is usually more for my brokenbeat kind of material. I have not done it yet for dubstep.
EZ

Had to look his name up and then realized he's the guy from Braindrill. I've heard them plenty of times. Not a fan of their style, though. Not much into Psyopus type stuff. He's a very good example of a bassist holding the low-end while still being melodic and playing around the guitars and drums, though.Evil Madmen wrote:You know Jeff Hughell?Genevieve wrote:Oh God yes.Evil Madmen wrote:Mike FloresGenevieve wrote:

I saw Braindrill live once, minus Dylan. This was the last show before the band broke up actually, but hughell is bomb he can do crazy taps and melodic shit. I usually dont listen to much metal anymore, few years listening to almost nothing but has made me a little tired of it. And yeah cryptopsys last album sucked, I saw them live with the new lineup, singer is a total doucherGenevieve wrote:Had to look his name up and then realized he's the guy from Braindrill. I'm rusty when it comes to death metal, though. Black (especially), thrash and sluge metal and have almost completely overtaken most of my metal listening habits. I still bump some Autopsy, Gorguts and Cryptopsy (minus the abomination that is their last album) on occasion, though.
Who woulda thunk the biggest doucher in the band would be Flo Mounier, though. I saw them once like.. 2 or 3 years ago, still with Lord Worm. Now THAT was a a great show. I barely see metal lately, though. The Dillinger Escape Plan and the Red Chord in the summer and possibly Marduk and Vader later this year, but who knows really.Evil Madmen wrote:I saw Braindrill live once, minus Dylan. Yeah, it's mostly inconsiderate assholes thinking the whole dancefloor belongs to them while others are just trying to groove to the music.Evil Madmen wrote:Metal shows are just a bunch of mouth breathers now, cant really get downGenevieve wrote:Who woulda thunk the biggest doucher in the band would be Flo Mounier, though. Hey, just had a chance to check these, thanks for the link. It sounds really nice, these Cynic guys. I like the fusion experimental aspects of this.Genevieve wrote:Peep the solo that kicks in laterMKS wrote:I guess I haven't really ever heard of these bass players, but I'm not really an extreme metal guy.Genevieve wrote:Oh God yes.Evil Madmen wrote:Mike FloresGenevieve wrote:
