so u wldve turned burial down? some good producers can mix but choose not to.

and if u ask me, 10 is quite a lot of artists strait off. why fill yr roster from the word go? i wldve thought that signing talent is an ongoing process that u do when u come across it, not just cos u got the space to fill. why do u feel like u got 2get all 10 now? that might mean signing stuff for the sake of it that u'd regret later. especially if u r thinking 2 build longterm careers/relationships with these artists.

otherwise, yr mission statement sounds pretty good 2 me tho. good luck.

lhd wrote:So I only want to sign ten people and go with a more traditional approach to releasing music. Rather than trying to just sign tunes, I want to sign artists. Ten artists. Then I want to watch them grow as they release tunes with me. If they release on labels that's all good too. I would hope that if I was buttering their bread at Life In Headfones that they would give me first shot at a new tune, but if it didn't work out that way that would be fine too. If you can't mix, then you can't play shows and I don't want anyone who can't promote their own tunes on my label. That's why I asked for a mix. I asked for 5 tunes b/c at least 3 of 'em will not be good enough. I have 8 people right now and I want 10. You're right, none of the people who sent me tunes got signed, but, I got a lot of great publicity. It's just a part of the process. Big up to everyone for caring. So far my roster looks like this:
Hexadb
Fbom
Droid Sector
Trifunk
Simonoff
Vishnu
and two others.
Fair point made i think overall and about the dj thing, but theres a flip side to that dj thing, not everyone can dj...
plus 1 more then 10 peeps is quite alot dont you think?

by the way Coleco is the man you should be looking into!
A brand new song!
