Re: brostep
well, lets have some examples then. or can we basically assume whatever's currently on the beatport top 10 is brostep.
I think about all those nero remix's. although if you don't like that blinded by the lights remix your not a human.
in clubs people listen to this stuff to have fun and dance. i've played lots of deep sets and people don't feel them as much. you guys whine alot about dubstep suffering the same fate as d'n'b but part of that fate was due to all the snobby chin stroking i see all over this forum. go over to dogs on acid and read all the posts whining about clownstep and reeces being overused from 2000 onward.

Re: brostep
there are no examples tho.. this thread is waste
even if someone would start naming names (which is poor form)
its still entirely subjective - one persons brostep is someone else's hype shit. end of. why make another topic about it as if you have discovered something that everyone else before now failed to notice?
the one's tossing around "Bro's" disparagingly, alienating a certain 'type' of person... delineating types of people in a discourse shows more about that commentators character than the one's he/she is rallying against, saying this or that type of person ain't welcome at a rave?! Maaan the dance is about inclusion, we help each other tap into the proper vibez
out to the dsf reactionaries, let yr insecurities shine fwd

Re: brostep
yeah, at least make a name for it based on the sound it makes
to define it on what type of person might listen to it is just fucked, off base to start
all people all tastes.

Re: brostep
Nothing wrong with it at all, diversity of sound and the associated appeal is good for the music. Was Hardcore the end of Rock n Roll? Some would argue that girl-friendly emo was the final nail in the coffin in terms of creativity/cookie-cutter.
But too much of one thing isn't good.
It wasn't the Drill and Bass/agressive sound/pissing contests that killed DnB (esp in NYC) it was the sub-gerne-fication/pigeon holing. My night's only liquid, my night's only jump-up, yadda yadda yadda. Ended up splintering the community, and hearing the same style of music all night is boring.
It's up to the DJ's to educate, diversify, take chances, and play it well by telling a story. Beatport's top 10 is not an indicator of this, but personally I stray away from that, much like not buying everything on the wall just because its upon the wall of the record store.

totally with that. its all about journeys. the problem is that there's not enough of them right now. after you've heard 2 hours of evil/satanic/damian-omen music....it starts turning comedic, and anything but dark and evil. it becomes music for retards. again, the key word here is moderation.iron myke wrote: It's up to the DJ's to educate, diversify, take chances, and play it well by telling a story.
Re: brostep
we all know i'm in agreement w/ this one. I got nothing against intense sounds, and i love me a good wobble alongside the propulsive, syncopated stuff i'm naturally drawn towards.... but the more i travel, the more i hear younger dj's playing 1 side of things and ONLY that side. kinda heartbreaking, especially when you consider the back catalogs of artists that people are continually bemoaning... chase & status didn't start with "Eastern Jam," nor does it define their career. same w/ skream (from who R those guys to precression to if you know to filth to...), benga, rusko, caspa.... their productions and sets run the gamut.
now, w/ that said, I honestly do not understand the pure homogeneity in the beatport top 10. aside from hyph mngo, it's all scarily similar. Like the scene decided on rules even though there weren't any in existence.

shit dude...its beatport what do you expect...their top 10 of every genre sucks right? its the largest dealer in electronic music, and if you want a sound that works for everyone in the world...its definitely has to be unoriginal and homogenous.
quick example: food in america. you go to different parts of the country and you find different food. here in the south we have biscuits and grits. in wisconsin you have cheese curds...but what food best describes ALL of america? fucking macdonalds.
anyway. i think brostep is a hilarious term.
and i also fucking hate wobble bangers. altho i'll find 2-3 every month that i enjoy. ahhhhhhhhhhhh humanity.
