'One Blood'. I really wasn't feeling this I'll have to be honest. Found the notation sounded a little amateur. And those choir samples sounded kinda naff. Yeah this really didn't sit too well with me. Sorry found it a bit too cheesy.

'Got it' was better I'd say. More minimal and the production was more sophisticated. More into this track I'd say. Am a bit tired so that's not helping my reaction but I like the phatness of the snare and clap combo. Yeah this one isn't too bad but I'm a sucker for more res heavy saw and triangle basslines.

Oh shit. Those Dubs Were MASSIVE! I didn't like the choir either, but even WITH that i have still smashed that out bare times on the way to work! The way the wow'wow sits in after the drivin sub dun it for me.

Mad Props Like A Nut-House-Nativity.

Product Report

Post by deathsquadkid » Thu Dec 07, 2006 2:18 pm

Have listened to both now afew times.

:D Smooth. Minimal. Cold (in the positive). :D

With the weight of a full system throwin it down in the lower reaches - and not restrained within ear buds - both would be blow a cool breath across the floor. Will flow these through my sub after work...

One Blood - The ethereal vocals are nicely off set with the ancient (?) sounding strings that remind me of the Chinese ErHu. Bobbs along well. The male vocals have a desperation in them which adds further emotion to proceedings.

Got it - Darker and purely electro. Heavy pulse. If i can be cheap and say it reminds - slightly - of Moving Ninja in parts, i will. This track is more of a delve into the blacker sector of the Dubstep heart. Slower. Minimal again.

Both are to a standard and could easiely be dropped live. Probably earlier in the set, both sound like they could easily be mixed up without too many problems.

Prefer the latter of the two if pushed.

But that's just me...

difficult.. 'one blood' is one of my favourite dancehall tunes of all time. not sure you've really given it much of a touch. safe though anyway. i'd have liked it way better if you hadnt sampled one blood ;)

to drop a cut as heavyweight as One Blood into your track you've really set yourself a task. its almost un-touchable.. by sampling it you're borrowing its weight and if you're not matching it pound for pound then you've fucked it.

I feel this about that wack dubstep version of 'Under mi sensi' too.. total shit when you compare it to the original.

Interesting too if you compare that to the incredible refit of Ritchie Spice's Marijuana which in its original form is pretty weak.

my man, there's something utterly admirable about laying your musical balls across the chopping board of mass critique.

I guess something akin to seeing your woman felt up by strange hands (ears!)

Will be keepin a eye for future drops. :)

I'm definitely gonna make room to work both of these tunes in.
Nice work.
